When can you reasonably farm in the dark sea?

I wanted to know what gear and level you need to be able to farm in the dark sea without getting bodied by anything. I tried at level ~65-70 with a sailboat, light canons, the sailors crew and some basic “boat gear”, my boat got one shot in 2 minutes spent in this sea.

I now have a caravel with heavy canons, the same crew and a bit more “boat gear”, I’m level 109 and I have ok armor I guess. Also, I’m a fast weapon oriented conjurer.

Realistically, you should probably just get to max lvl and atleast a ketch. But I suppose it’d still be possible around your current level, just much harder if you run into any atlanteans. Boats I don’t really know about.

Bruh i thought we would be talking about what kind of vegetables/fruit would be farmable in the dark sea

Turnips

Ketches work for i0 range and brigs are recommended for i1+, especially due to dark sea rain.
I wouldn’t recommend rowboats, sailboats or caravels, but I guess caravels could work for a short amount of time.

You can probably survive dark sea with t1 enchants on decent ship parts like that bronze armor or reinforced wooden hull.
I do recommend non-arcanium cannons as the arcanium ones aren’t as good.

First off, the Dark Sea is absolutely an endgame point, at least for now. You need a Caravel at the minimum to not take constant damage in the first range (Insanity Zero), and a Brig to go to any of the Insanity ranges. Level 125 is acceptable, since that was the level cap when the Dark Sea released.

For ship equipment, I’d recommend getting Level 90+ Hull Armor from Bronze Sealed Chests, but Nimbus Sealed Chests come with Level 130+ Hull Armor, making it far more useful. If you go for the latter, make sure to get a Willow Sailcloth for its speed.

I’m surprised the Dark Sea doesn’t naturally spawn those insanity mushrooms in Akursius.
At least as far as I know.

If you want to visit the Dark Sea, the ketch is good for the non-insanity layer. Any further and you are better off with the brig to prepare for dark sea rain and atlantean ships

Wait you’re right, that is pretty weird

Ok, thanks for all your advice, I think I’ll wait a bit. It’s not urgent, I guess I’ll finish the story and go max level before going in.

You either need a ketch stacked with stability or a brig to comfortably travel into the dark sea.

Once you get one of those you can justify going there so around like lvl 80ish at the very lowest and I’d only go to the first layer.

Dark sea content seems kinda balanced around the max level at the end of each sea because that’s when it’s understood that it will be added. So I’d say take a few trips at the end of each sea if you’re trying to progress a build and are allergic to the marketplace
