Why am I still alive? Didn’t I fail my sole purpose? The purpose that was given by Theos?
I’m supposed to be a weapon, a weapon that destroys any threat to Theos’s goal. Why couldn’t I beat this woman? I was close, yet far from defeating her. Her strikes were painful and accurate, not a single one failed their job of hurting me. It was like fighting Freedrock, yet much worse. My body still aches from all the wounds that I should have died from.
But I’m alive, bandaged up and still healing. She kept me alive… she decided my fate… Why didn’t she just eliminate a threat like me-
A sudden slap across the face woke Lelantos from his thoughts. Soon the pain came along with it, it didn’t help that he was still wounded and recovering…
“Didn’t I tell you to stop daydreaming? The hell will I do with someone like you if you keep sleeping on the Job?” The white-haired woman spoke. Her sharp blue eyes gave a stare that could stab through you like a Nagin weapon. The bags under her eyes showed that she didn’t have enough sleep to be all happy and cheerful.
This woman was Valencia, yes that Valencia. The Supreme Admiral of Arcane Government, the big boss of the entire place. It has been around 2 weeks since she defeated the WarTiger, and that person was Lelantos. Instead of being jailed for the rest of his life, chained up in the dark cells of the AG, the large man was appointed as her assistant. Why? Who knows, maybe it was the fact he could be more of use to her than just having him jailed. Plus didn’t help the fact the War Phoenix seemed to not be too happy with his student jailed.
“Now go and get me my usual coffee, and don’t you dare mess it up,” Valencia spoke, her tone sharp and harsh. It was her usual personality, straightforward and honest with everyone. She was a great leader, yet still a demanding Boss.
“Yes, Ma’am…” Lelantos muttered, still not used to having someone order him around other than Theos. He slowly walked towards the large double door before opening and moving out. It was the usual routine, walk through the massive halls, and go to the kitchen. Having to use his fire magic to make the coffee, before pouring it into her favorite mug and returning.
He soon walked back to her office. It was decorated in a rather traditional way. Nothing too fancy or expensive. Lots of bookshelves, and a blue carpet with gold lining that pointed toward her work desk. A large closed window was behind her work desk that had piles of papers piled on top of them. It usually gave her a nice view of the 5th Sea and gave her enough light to work during the day.
“Hm, you’re getting better at this.” She spoke, taking small sips of the coffee Lelantos had just made for her. She was standing, in her usual white uniform with gold lining and a blue dress shirt underneath. Valencia faced the windows, looking out before turning back to Lelantos.
“Still covered in bandages I see? Well, I did beat you pretty badly…” God, he really hated that sly smirk she had on her face sometimes. It was just full of pride and… and… Well he really had no other reason.
“Come on, give a good punch.” These words surprised him, as she turned around. Holding a hand up as the target for him to punch. Such a weird request, but he hasn’t punched anything in a while… Fuck it.
Lelantos foot stepped in, as his arm reeled back. His body moved forward with the step as the arm suddenly sprung in a straight that clashed with Valencia’s palm. The air crackled as the shockwave shook the entire room. The papers on her work desk flew across the entire room and the bookshelves shook with it. A somewhat proud smile took over Valencia’s face.
“Seems like you’ve regained some of your strength back. Quite the fast recovery… but not enough~” Her fingers closed around his bandaged fist, squeezing it. It caused Lelantos knees to buckle as he felt the sudden pain of her grip go through his entire body. Ouch.
“H-Hey!” He spoke out, clearly not expecting her to grip his already damaged fist like that. His grey eyes glanced upwards, trying to look Valencia in the eyes.
“You know… When the WarTiger is kneeling down like this… Makes for a good look, doesn’t it?~” You know the color red? Well, now that was the color of Lelantos’s entire face. What the hell were these feelings? Why was his heart thumping like this? Why was his stomach feeling weird?
This moment did not last long before she released her grip, and kicked him away. Making him roll over towards the wall with a soft thud. “Now get on with cleaning up the papers, can’t have this mess around if somebody else walks through.” She spoke, her voice returning to its usual harsh tone.
Valencia faced the window once more, looking outwards at the view of the endless waters of the 5th Sea. While Lelantos had to pick himself up and start picking up all the papers that flew around the room.
He never really expected to feel himself relaxed to this point. The sudden grip caught him off guard when it shouldn’t have. He usually was always on guard! But being around her… Just what the hell was going on with him?!
