Which cpu should i choose for my new pc

So im building a new computer soon since my current one is a year away from being e-waste, I’ve already ordered the graphics card (radeon rx 6800) and now im debating which cpu i should purchase, ive narrowed my options down to 5 different choices (all are AM4)

Ryzen 5 5600x
Ryzen 7 5700x
Ryzen 7 5800x
Ryzen 7 5700x3d
Ryzen 7 5800x3d

The x3d variants are very similar in performance to the normal x variants, although they have around 3x more L3 cache which will help a lot with certain games I enjoy playing, the prices are pretty similar and I can afford any of these options

At the moment I’m leaning towards the 7 5700x3d

how do you even build a computer, I’ve always wanted to learn.

Ive been watching videos of it since i was 8, its not easy to practice since shit is expensive

I think I have a basic understanding, though I’m sure there’s tons of nuance.

you need like

-a cooling system
-graphics cards
-cpu
-RAM/storage

actually I think that’s it besides like a power button and plug sockets for stuff like headphones and whatever

You forgot the two most important components, motherboard and power supply, also idk why you merged ram and storage they arent even similar im their purposes but yeah close enough

whats ur current one

Current cpu or computer?

comp

Lenovo thinkpad x230, cpu is literally a i5-3340m from 20 FUCKING 13

7800x3d is an amazing choice but im assuming you dont have the money?

I spent years saving and eventually built one:

I would definitely get the 5800x3d, as it is very cost effective for how much of a powerhouse it is. However, keep in mind that it is an AM4 processor, meaning you will be unable to upgrade the cpu without completley replacing the motherboard, cpu cooler, and potentially even more.

When you do turn yours on for the first time, it is an amazing feeling, so cherish it.

Its simply not worth it for me to get am5, its stronger but far more expensive and I dont really need that increase

Im currently having trouble finding a reasonably priced 5800x3d (theyre almost twice the cost of the 5700x3d) at the moment but thanks for the suggestion

fair enough
the 5600 performs fairly similarly to the 5600x from the reviews i see on it (at least on pcpartpicker), so perhaps give that a shot? not super sure though i dont know much about budget builds

you can make choices yourself shitass don’t depend on others to make your decisions for you.

(Especially since you likely know a lot more about processors and thus more qualified to make those decisions than most anyone here)

Idk who you are or why you bothered to comment this on here it really has no purpose

that was needlessly toxic

Alright gonna look into this some more thanks
