Who are the Thane?

So, i’ve checked the trello a few days ago and have seen on the credit page something particular:
SelloutJTN: …,Keraxe Vikings/Thane designs,…

So i guess we all know who are the Keraxe vikings, but who are the Thane? Please if anyone knows explain me cuz i’ve never heard of Thane before.

i know in Scotland a thane was someone who held land from the king, or was the chief of a clan, so its probably a higher ranking soldier or something, like the equivalent of a centurion

Basiclly nordic version of landlord. You get land from king and as a pay you gotta protect kingdom at war
