Why are most clans so serious

most clans I’ve seen posting for recruitment are like “We’re a active ganking PVP guild with ranks and roles, if you do not pass our test you’re NOT allowed.” or “Yeah we put a TON of effort into the guild itself making it apart of the lore/canon of AO and we’re all about X theme”
why can’t there just be a role called the Poopshitters that just hang out n fuck with other guilds for the fun of it

I just want a guild that stands around docks until someone below the pvp cap spawns their ship and then we all hop on and do stupid dances. He literally can’t do anything

Whenever he gets in a ship fight we pop on, kill the crew, and then toss the chests overboard and dash back on and keep dancing

absolutely foul idea for a clan
I love it.
truly a beautiful idea that needs to be made real.

i think most clans aren’t that serious once you actually like join those clans eveyrone is pretty chill its just on the outside most people just show they are serious about their clans when recruiting or when they are showcasing it to others.

it’s probably an advertising strategy. Most people think strong = appeal, and it does to most

to me it’s just the cringiest shit and makes me writhe in pain every time i think about clans.

Its for the appeal and to be somewhat formal.
Going from the perspective of someone in a guild, it just sounds cooler

(Theres also the factor that, in order to increase your member cap ingame, you need to have more and more infamy, so you need as many people farming it as possible earlier on to invite more people in. Thats probably a factor into why people need to take an exam to get in.
This is just speculation though, since Roselight doesn’t have a test like that, and just lets you in if you’re active enough)

Imo, I think there’s no problem with having excessive “roles and ranks” and formal/militaristic concepts in your clan, it just gets kind of cringe when you make clan lore or self-insert your clan into lore.

WHY NO ONE NOTICED MY GUILD??

I have a casual guild, it has no purpose in itself just a community to have fun and enjoy. , I don’t like serious guilds as if they were real life.

I’m not the most perceptive person so I said most to avoid covering guilds I didn’t notice lol

(I had to, I’m partially sorry)

because people are edgy

The reason that some people take guilds so seriously is because we grow a connection to the community. We want to keep our community strong and tight, and to do that you need to have an upfront appeal, in which case involves being a top guild. We’ve also devoted a lot of time and effort into the creation and nurturing of our guilds. Having a structure will allow the guild to continue to move forward without needing direct intervention, such as staff roles.

Another very indicating reason that some guilds are taken so seriously is for the competitive nature of the game itself. Having a structure within the guild makes it much easier to have a more uniform way to farm and help each other. A ranking system is also important due to the fact that some people must be rewarded for their talents or dedication, while others deserve to see something that they can work for in the guild, instead of it just being another hangout. The main difference between a serious guild and a casual guild is that a casual guild treats it like a friend group, while a serious guild often treats it more like a family. That’s just my perspective of it though.

Guys it’s Meru the Succubus

cause it’s fun ig

Thats when it gets fun unless the lore is just absurd/nonsensible/incoherent.

Most people find any form of RPing as cringe but seeing people do it gives me nostalgia since I use to RP in After The Flash

they wanna be good at the game but don’t have any friends so they use their tests to try and filter out the bad from the good. You can strive to be the best and still be in it for fun, but clan owners need not apply. There’s no shortcut to being good. You wanna form a clan full of ppl cracked at the game? You do it the old-fashioned way, making connections.
