Why are these new potion types only made with certain reagents?!

refresher

New potion types are hype, but one problem I’ve noticed is that the grease and physick types can only be made with reagents that give negative effects (ex: corroding, blindness, etc). Why can’t I make healing grease that I would apply on my katana to further reduce damage or water breathing physick to reduce the duration of thrown water breathing pots by other players? It seems like I can create infused daggers with any status effect including positive ones so why can’t this same logic apply to grease and physick pots?

(also what do you think the catalyst for physick pots are, since they’re considered a remedy which explains why they reduce the effects of negative status effects)

something something intended purpose, like physick is MEANT to be only positive, so it affects negative afflictions and not something like water breathing. Not sure about the grease though, but I suppose that they want to limit those kinds of potion setups

Oh wait this is 99% bait mb
Ain’t no way somebody actually wants to be able to shoot themselves in the foot more

it doesn’t make sense to limit these potion setups since they’re meant to be entirely customizable. i can make a corroding elixir which only harms myself but I can’t make clearsight grease that gives a buff to the enemy? why can i give clearsight to enemies using gel but not grease?

i saw ur reply lmfao

Gel is an option, maybe that’s the way to do it and not… you know, grease

well grease is meant to be like a permanent gel only affecting melee weapons and reducing their damage output so i feel like grease and physick pots should be made with all t2 reagents, just saying

it’s just a temp name and it is going to get changed to strong potion

potion’s dextierity

i do

What are physick pots I’m out of the loop

this is a new potion type only added to the trello yesterday

Applications of Physick:

  • Farming liquid starlight
  • Exploring secret room in Thrylo’s Crossing
  • Raiding Forte Castrum(and Montu) to prevent burning
  • PvP

wait you got a point, burning physick pots would be especially useful

Wdym? You always get 5 bottles, don’t you?

yeah that’s true but for the deeper pools it requires you to jump in and take damage, so poison physick pots would be especially useful

okay for physick pots I at least understand that one because idk why you’d need to resist positive status effects

though it would be cool to have throwable ones so I can disable the other guy’s health pots

Oh no… PLEASE DON’T REJUVINATE ME!!!

hard countering poison.

Ok but if negative effects have a duration that can be resisted by the corresponding physick pot, why not also apply that logic to positive effects? It would be counterintuitive yeah but that’s why potions are customizable.

it’d be a waste of development time to make potions that serve literally no purpose.

Consider: Every single physick is a new status effect.

This is probably the main reason he doesn’t want to do it.

I think it’d be cool if blood disease potions apply positive effects to yourself instead of the enemy
