Barrages already dilute your damage across a ton of smaller, harder to land hits. Why are bosses immune to them? I would suspect its to protect against ganking, but already double their HP for every player involved.
Similar question, are barrages of any use in PVE/PVP? so far I’ve only used them to spam ice platforms and to stack light’s blinding effect really fast.

barrages have very niche uses for some magics, as you said with ice and light, but this also applies for ash, poison, crystal, and a few other magics.
otherwise they generally are worse than single blasts.
as far as the bosses thing though i have no clue

i did some testing and apparently NPC’s might actually parry attacks WHILE they’re using their attacks instead of the other way around
i think it happens randomly whether they are attacking or not tbh
I think they have a % chance to block/parry attacks, so naturally using multihits would vastly increase that chance. Could def be implemented better ngl
