its because its the season to be jolly
it shows up on your profile in the corner and on the ones of everyone on the main page.
christmas is here…
there are also festive lights and bells - but the bells only show up if your browser is wide enough.
Those show up for me too
it’s almost like a widely celebrated holiday that happens once every certain time of year involving present giving, snow, funny lights, and silly hats, is happening right now
