shipping characters gets old
like shipping a plushie to the United States of America it gets old eventually just like shipping characters together
If I ever make a story I’m making all of the characters 17 and all of the boys aromantic purely to make shippers mad
Neither of these have stopped people before
yeah but now I can say everyones either a pedo or arophobic if they do
that still wont stop them
but it will piss them off. one must imagine a writer happy, the futile shipping wars alone enough to fill a mans heart
if you seek to instigate shipping wars for a fandom make an alt and post about a less popular ship, easy war
used to not get it either but damn they cute when they’re together i’m ngl
Exactly why i hate the idea of shipping and the people who do it
I think if it’s not doing something weird like that then it probably isn’t deserving of hate.
That being said, my thoughts on shipping are neutral at best. Most of the time I just don’t like it and that’s about it. I have never once thought “these characters who were are not canonically in a relationship fit each other better romantically than platonically”
It’s sort of like the “This meeting could have just been an email”
Maybe hate was the wrong word
I still find it all immeasurably cringe
I only do it if the ship is cannon
That’s basically my view of stuff like shipping if it isn’t cannon I don’t care
Yeah if it’s canon then it’s probably best not to remove it. Yeah romance can be written badly and end up being really annoying but the characters are actually intended to be in a relationship and they are written so that they are able to have that relationship.
(some people though will insist that certain ships are canon, even if it is specifically stated otherwise, and come up with all sorts of “proof”. I get the feeling that most of the people who do this haven’t ever actually been friends with someone and assume that people only hang around each other because they are in love)
No guys you dont get it reviro has to be canon because revon is intended to be the reverse of neviro, as they are both weapon users with inheritance from ravenna/winterveil, and they are both heirs to a kingdom but arent doing that currently to continue their agenda) and as we all know opposites atract
That is usually what they sound like yeah.
I think a lot of people forget that any sort of media or storytelling has a narrative, but they still notice bits of it and interpret it in their own ways.
People who notice narrative parallels but haven’t figured out that it is a way of making characters fit into the story better will do shipping
People who pay attention to all the “show not tell” but are unaware that those two things are related and happen in place of each other are likely to get involved in powerscaling.
That’s my theory at least, since I usually see a lot more people noticing, but failing to fully understand certain aspects of storytelling in different areas of a community.
I tend to be a multi-shipper, which is when you ship multiple different ships at once, because I like the writing potential. Like… Arcane, for example. Jinx and Ekko, obviously, but Jinx and Luxanna are my favorite pairing (because they remind me a lot of my wife and I)
Like… I ship Lae’zel and Shadowheart because when I did a lae’zel origin run, they had so much chemistry, I just… mm. Those two, true loves. Also Karlach and Wyll, I refuse to elaborate.
This is the most asshole thing I’ve read in a while.
The lae’zel x shadowheart fanfic I’ve been writing… (my wife and I are them too)
I don’t ship because I don’t know what romance is.
Never been in a relationship before after all.
I think people ship people cuz it’s cute?
I just like my brig okay?
I dislike shipping to some degrees. Specifically with Astarion from BG3. I won’t spoil, but there’s a line that makes me dislike the side of the BG3 fandom that is obsessed with him, because he has a line where he says something very… real, to me. As someone who didn’t own their own body for a while.
