Why do shields still have durability?

shields just kinda suck
they use up a valuable weapon slot, don’t do that much damage, and on top of that they also break if you use them for their intended purpose too much.

“oh but durability makes it so that people don’t just hold block all the time”
that’s already a horrible strategy, since your opponent can still damage you and you can’t damage them back. basically a lose lose situation for you.

“b-but the blocking power increase is too strong!! you have to make it only be for a certain amount of damage”
boxing.
BOXING
boxing just gives you a passive wooden shield for free. without durability.

“stacking boxing and shields would be 2 strong :(”
maybe… vetex should do something with armour piercing then… like idk, buff it?

shield durability is just kinda bad

Because they’re incredibly strong, especially on savants

no they aren’t lol
they are GOOD and STANDARD for savants, but not incredibly strong at all
incredibly strong would mean they wouldn’t be savant exclusive

but once redirect gets added you will be happy when someone’s shield is broken

They absolutely are, it’s not because you’re ignorant that you’re right buddy.

almost every savant I have seen uses them, which is correct. but incredibly strong implies that shields alone makes savant broken or something similar. its just your wording.

Savants are pretty darn good, and shields complement their kits very well. The reason you never see them is practically nobody knows how to even play Savant to begin with.

literally all of this is true. I have done PvP. I’m not saying shields are bad at all.

but they are not incredibly strong, that’s all I’m saying. plus I’m a d1 hater so

They are incredibly strong, it’s just that they require excellent blocking and parrying skills to be effective which is only available to the good and low ping PvPers.

“They are incredibly strong, but only to the tiny minority of players that actually know where their G key is AND have decent enough computers to actually press this key in time every single time any attack gets close to them.”

bro I get what you’re saying, but its off

with the upcoming balance changes, shields will need a bunch of weapon stats to use
so savants will only be able to use the worse shields which have mediocre blocking power and bad durability

Which is a good thing, they were overtuned. Savant as a whole might need a very slight nerf, specifically to it’s Magic Tier Scaling.

Hey idk if you know this but shields and boxing bp don’t stack
Shields are pretty much useless for me

me when i lose a valuable part of my offensive kit because i used it for its intended purpose:

They stack, but it’s a weird formula.

whats that formula then?

If I’m not mistaken
DamageReceived = DamageDealt * (1 - (0.55 + ShieldPower) * (1 - BoxingPower) )* (1 - BlockingPowerFromJewels)

so boxing just multiplies the damage by 0.9?
i thought it took the shieldpowers’ place in the original equation

I’m pretty sure it’s 0.85 but I might be mistaken

does parrying attacks take more durability than just blocking them normally?

yeah they nerfed the blocking power to 0.1 from 0.15
