Why do users not read the entirety of a topic's reply?

A forum is all about reading and typing, why sign up for something that you aren’t willing to partake in?
I get why you would want to do this for topics that serve the purpose of sharing things, but discussions are just that, discussions. If you barge in all high and mighty with only one message worth of context, do you expect what you’re about to post to actually provide anything?

When I come to read I come to read content made by people who aren’t unfunny pricks with superiority complexes :+1: (as opposed to me, a funny prick with a superiority complex)

I can understand this, but it’s flawed.
If everyone read a post’s replies, then logic would dictate that everyone would only make useful and new replies instead of useless and repetitive ones, causing a topic’s total read time to decrease.

i try to read everything! specially the replies and comments ;;; i like reading to the end so i can understand it better but sometimes it’s too long :sweat: i use the forum while in class 99% of the time so i keep it brief, mostly

i read a few replies at the top, then read a few at the bottom to get a general idea of whats going on

if a topic doesnt have a ton of replies ill read them all, but goddamn theres way too many sometimes

I have lowered mental stamina sometimes.

Much how like I don’t read every topic, sometimes I get lazy and then pop in and spew consciousness. (Like, I’m less concerned about the ongoing discussion but spewing thoughts I have on the topic.)

If anything I’m now expecting everyone else to give me context because I put a lazy message. (Yes and no. Not consciously my goal but that’s honestly how it ends up sometimes.)

(Sometimes it’s hard to read 100+ replies, especially when I’m trying to unwind and not focus. Logically I should not speak at all but I, much like I have no energy to read, I have no energy to stop myself from typing. Whoops.)

Oh and some people are just speed-reading. They just sound like they haven’t read parts because they are speed-reading.
