Why does attacking keraxe ships lose fame?

Aren’t they the bad guys? are they actually the good guys and everyone at that port actually deserved it and we’re actually the bad guys? what is morality in the war seas? I can demolish an entire city and everyone will forgive me if I beat up my rival, who is a bad guy (he will escape and the fight will be of no consequence) we are considered heros, risking our lives, yet with the ability to respawn are we truly risking anything? infact the only thing we risk in game is losing money, and thus we must deposit our money into a bank. are the bank good guys? or do they make predatory loans and put people into crippling debt for the rest of their lives and chop off their hands when they cannot repay their debts, and we just turn a blind eye because the service they provide is convenient. indeed morality is a difficult topic, things one may find evil are also things someone else will do without a second thought, we as the player happily turn a blind eye to worrying behaviour, such as iris commiting arson fully intending to ruin the lives of as many innocent people as she could, but we still pal around with her because shes useful (allegedly) and consider the one time we beat the shit out of her to have been enough to fix her ruthlessness, yet it very much is still there as she is a bit too enthusiastic about killing people. Indeed, morality is a difficult topic. Are the keraxe truly evil? or is it not the result of the warlike society they were raised in? they most likely do not view themselves as evil, as their society has taught them that strength is what matters, they dont mind killing people because to them fighting is the right thing to do. If they are unaware that its evil, are they still evil? Personally, i say they are still evil, because evil that does not know it is evil is one of the worst kinds of evils.

so i think attacking keraxe ships shouldnt lose you fame idk tho

To put it short: fame and bounty is very specifically the navy’s view of good and evil.

That’s probably why it doesn’t affect the story.
The kingdoms probably don’t give a shit about your standing with the navy lol.

yeah navy thing, i’m guessing the navy just dislikes you messing up with any kingdom’s ship as they’re supposed to be peacekeepers. whatever if those ships are actively in a war or not.

i mean it’s still very inconsistent, 'cause iirc killing most kingdom soldiers grants fame while sinking their ships lowers it. though i think that was mainly done because you are forced to fight a lot of ravenna soldiers in the storyline? i believe even soldiers used to lower fame on release.

I can see your point, however if you have a bounty, and you go and bash a criminal, that increases your bounty. Bashing a criminal should be considered a good thing in the navy’s eyes right? yet it increases bounty. Therefore, i dont think its about good/evil, but rather how dangerous the navy thinks a person is. Bashing a criminal is a good thing, however that means you were stronger than that criminal, and must also mean you are more of a threat, and so your bounty increases because the navy wants you gone more.

Conversely, fame can be seen as the navy viewing someone as not a threat and an ally, and that fame decreases slightly when you attack a merchant because they didnt have a goddamn notebook, which makes the navy see you as a little less trustworthy but they dont want to get rid of you because youre very helpful for getting of pirates n stuff

so THAT’S why I lose fame for shooting Dusk’s, Laelus’s, or The Crone’s ships despite them being on the bounty board, the Navy is angry because they wanted to steal the spirit weapons for themselves…

why wouldn’t it just not affect renown instead of adding it?
