The existence of assassin ships is kinda weird to me. Why would a group centered around covert murder be screaming for all to see “I’M COMING FOR YOU” with bright red ships and a designated emblem on their sails? I mean, if I were an assassin, I would try and be as discreet as possible—I’d likely disguise my ship as a common merchant ship, and change it up a bit between missions so nobody catches on.
Idk, I guess the assassins are just kinda dumb. I mean, they do have members of their own group literally just vibing by the bounty boards. And they have a perfectly raidable cave with no real defenses besides some guards that can be taken out by novice mages.
The problem is, it’s still an open advertisement saying “HEY, WE’RE ALL ACTIVE MURDERERS”. Furthermore, if you see one of the ships in your harbor, you know to be on guard for the coming days, which would make the assassin’s jobs more difficult. It would also give the navy time to respond and possibly cut off the assassin’s escape. Ideally, the assassins should be seeking to be in and out before anyone even suspects them.
Well the way I see it, they’re powerful enough to do that and branding to let them know if you’re fucked if you see the assassin emblem. Though IRL pirates doesn’t fly their flag until they get close enough to a British merchant ship so you got a point there
Every kingdom in the War Seas, including the Navy, has hired the Assassins before. They also deal with the Navy diplomacy wise so it safe to say that they’re powerful enough for the Navy to somewhat leave them alone
While a good tactic against, say, a powerless mayor, not everyone can be intimidated. Especially seeing as the syndicate’s primary targets consist of powerful fighters—many of who being more powerful than the majority of assassins in the bronze sea—dropping the element of surprise for an attempt at intimidation doesn’t seem like a particularly wise move.
Idk about this one, because If they can’t take on anyone than isn’t a mayor, then they would’ve been abolished or destroyed by now. There’s a reason why they still operate and haven’t been raided by the Navy or a Kingdom
Despite what in game might tell you of the Assassin status, It’s nowhere weak + many assassins don’t visit Whitesummit anyways via NPC dialogue
I agree, the Syndicate just feel like edgy Gravy right now. I wish they felt more like assassins. Maybe they’re like ninjas since even the GN hires them.
