well, the dark sea might be a bit difficult to figure out on your own, but visiting the wiki once will basically clear up most confusion with the dark sea mechanics.
pvp is not like this. you have to actually git gud, as they say. You have to spend a lot of time learning and failing and getting comfortable with your build, which also contributes to the very high skill floor for pvp.
(the fact that it’s very difficult to really change your build also doesn’t help, because it takes hours to get the proper armour and getting an interchange potion is also not a fun thing to do (or a hecate essence))
