Why doesn’t aura extend your lifespan?

The lifespan extending properties come from practicing magic energy, and aura is magic energy, so what gives??? If I can summon a tornado from aura I should get an extended lifespan just like a mage who can summon a tornado with magic.

pretty intense rizz there
you mog the other guy and a tornado forms on the spot

Dude, you need to get out of my house, you smell like pure blacksmith iron
It’s called “aura” bruh

Anyone feel like giving actual input instead of making aura jokes

Well, for what it’s worth, you’re right,

Right about what I was asking a question in this post

It should increase lifespan.

To preface with some background info, what separates a mage from a non-mage is the ability to use magic in the form of magic circles:

With that established, the use of magic energy on its own does not extend the lifespan, it’s specifically using magic through magic circles:

As much as I disliked the ability to use magic circles being tied to spirit energy, it did provide a solid explanation for that since spirit energy is the power of life. But that seems to have been removed, maybe it’s just a property of using magic supercharging your cells or something.

So since non-mages do not use magic circles, even if they use magic energy they do not get the actual lifespan boost that mages do. And even the lifespan boost was based on usage of magic energy, non-mages only manipulate trace amounts of magic energy, so any boost would probably be like 10-20 years at best

Alright then, one question

Does this mean alchemists get the lifespan boost too?

It would seem so, unless this has changed in the past 7 months (entirely possible knowing vetex) enchanting magic is an actual magic:

Alright, but we know magicless people can do it from the fact Enizor thought he was magicless until the dark sea, so does this mean if say, Argos decided to become really good at enchanting he could live a longer time?

Dang wtf that’s actually a good question, I forgot enzior was technically “magicless” even though he was an alchemist. Also a good question on if an old person would get the full extra 200+ years of life if they unlock their magic late in life (would they be old for 200 years :sob:)

If only I wasn’t a coward and a completely nobody in vetcord so I could ping vetex in the patreon chat without worries :pensive:

From the looks of Theos, older mages typically still LOOK old, they just are still very powerful

It would be so awesome…

(Please)

Well if it’s only a matter of creating magic circles or not then yes

vetex after seeing a complete nobody who’s sent 2 chats in vetcord ever (me) ping him

If you are a patron I don’t see what the issue would be unless there’s something I don’t know about

I will literally pay you one old rapier to ask vetex

Yeah patreon members are allowed to ping vetex with questions because they are paying him 5 bucks, just not on the forums

Cool,

Since blueyonder doesn’t seem to feel like it. If any other patrons wouldnt mind asking this it’d be greatly appreciated

If Aura extended your lifespan, we’d still have the King of Aura around today.
