Why is AO so laggy?

Like I have a 4090, 96 gibs of ram, and a 4.5 ghz cpu yet I can barely hit 30 fps during combat on AO while I get 200+ on any other game.

i do think that roblox is ass when it comes to using your pcs hardware if im not mistaken though

memory leaks and such i think, the game runs fine for me at the start, but after a few combat encounters is when i start to lose frames

Sure but, (no deepwoken drama pls), a game like deep still casually hits 200 fps in any situation

Nah even after mass selling my inv I dip under 45 as soon as I join

I know it might be my computer but the game always crashes at ungiven and at the worst times, and yes it lags for me

when maria uses one of her attacks it sometimes generates so much particles that i drop to 2 fps

In general, Roblox is very inefficient when it comes to managing your computers resources. I have a 4080 and if you ever look at task manager there will be times where you will have 20 fps with 10% gpu usage. You could try using fastflags to help improve fps, but that’s about it.

It’s clearly not only a roblox issue, other simirlarly heavy roblox games run with 3x the fps

I would say it’s a matter of both, then. For these other games, still, look at the gpu usage. It’s almost always extremely low.

Which means they are way better optimized therefore Vetex should optimize his damn game

It’s much harder than just “optimizing”. Out of curiosity, what other games were you referencing before?

I mentionned deepwoken specifically because it’s one of the only other big rpgs like AO on the platform, and therefore has similar weight

Obligatory rage bait post (2/10, try something more original next time…oh wait you can’t). Deepwoken not even that good it has crazy lagspikes which have caused multiple wipes and deaths for me in the depths or trial of one or against dagger bandits in erisia

there definitely is a server-side memory leak since the yuletide update, no idea what causes it so I just always try to join the newest servers.
