Why is calvus so weak

For a leader of a kingdom, id expect him to be a lot stronger. Unless ravenna is a small kingdom when comparing to the whole of the war seas, someone who hadnt even awakened yet managed to beat him. Maybe it is just age since he says that he’s old after he fails to kill neviro, but doesn’t he seem kind of weak for a kingdom who controls frostmill, shell island, and a massive population island.
I dunno what do u guys think?

he was a bad savant

vitality - 4500 health
magic - aether
weapon - his trista thing
fighting style -???

Bro only used some kind of smash but it had insane endlag and barely any vertical AOE (until he decided to power himself up and still lost).

Based on the stomping attacks he uses, and the metal sounds they make, prolly uses iron leg

why would a king of a kingdom learn from a former assassin who harvests pumpkins, though?

He’s a savant

In-world there are probably many people that use specific fighting styles that are willing to train others, the player just happens to meet one of each. Otherwise that would mean every single npc that knows a fighting style learned it from the same mentor as we did, which I don’t really see being the case.

Either Neviro is strong, and the MC is overpowered.
OR
Neviro and MC don’t have plot armour, and Calvus is just experiencing an Argos.

the loser did the one thing you shouldn’t do as a savant and invested in vitality

Being the king and being the strongest don’t always go hand to hand. Calvus was the eldest son of Ceasar, so even if say, Julian was more powerful, Calvus is still going to be king.
