Why is Captain Maria affected by mentality?

Lord Elius wanted to join to follow in his sister’s footsteps. Lady Carina wanted to avenge Argos and her brother.

But Captain Maria is… just a pirate? I don’t know, I don’t see any qualities in her that may be useful for the plot in the future (with her current motives and dialogue).

I’m also pretty sure pirates are unpleasant people to begin with, not that the order is any better, but still.

The player is ruthless
They want to kill in the name of ‘preventing evil from evil-ing’

They need those execution points

The question is more “why do we spare this woman” than that but :+1:!!

She isnt just some pirate. She’s a pirate under the Drachmae Pirates. One of the Pirate groups that joined together to create big Pirate Coalition, and said group is currently waging war against the Grand Navy.

Its very likely that MC and the gang will get involved in such war at one point or another. No way theyre gonna dismiss some huge war going on in the main story.

And thus, Captain Maria’s death may affect how you are seen by the Corsair Pirates once you reach that point in the story. She’s not some random pirate, she has connections to what well may be a key plot point later on. Just not now.

I doubt that affected by mentality player actually judges their opponents. It is just MC’s view on how they should treat their opponents.

It is so true, that it is even funny in some way.

Interesting, I did not think on the line of her influence. I was going off by the pattern that I noticed the other 2 mentality peoples had gone. I suppose you could say they do share similarities in a way.

But my other question is: is the Corsair Country (a fearsome pirate coalition) really more feasible to side with than the Navy in that war that sparing or killing Maria is an option?

We know the Navy is corrupt. But I feel like there’s more to that.

(so sorry for weird English I simply do not know how to get my point across)

Hmm, it depends. It really does feel like some grey area looking into the Grand Navy and Corsair War.

There are some hints that the Grand Navy might be working with the Order (how the GN seems to have ignored the Prder ships on purpose and lied about the sailing there) and how they somehow managed to sign treaties with ALL kingdoms in the War Seas (which aligns with that Calvus said abt the Order).

But at the same time, Corsair’s side seems to be the opposite of that? Though, I dont think we know enough about the Corsairs to make a judgement on them. But we do know that the Assassin Syndicate seems to be working with them. And whats interesting is that theyre the exact opposite of the GN in which they WANT wars to keep happening. So they could continue to profit from it.

Its hinted in Rill Hendrix’s dialogue, also the whole thing about the Assassin Syndicate’s involvement in Sameria.

I think the Corsairs might be the proxy for the Assassin Syndicate to take down the Grand Navy, which is getting in their way. Corsairs might also have their own motives, but I think the Syndicate had a big hand in making this war possible.

Its basically clash of “Peace vs War”. Except, BOTH sides are corrupt in this case.

I think MC will run into the GN first during this war (As Marauding Sea where the Corsairs seems to be from, is likely the 5th Sea), have something similar in Ravenna where they kinda tear it down, and then go to Marauding Sea to fix their mess and find out the truth of the war and then tear them down too lmao.

Ive got an idea of how this might lead to 6th Sea, but this is deep into speculation and headcanon-y stuff so Ill skip that

Once again, the solution is just to kill everyone in charge and then leave

I do recall the Assassain Syndicate receptionist saying the Grand Navy hires assassins occasionally to do their bidding. Then again, that does not instantly create a relationship with one another because the higher-ups may have different goals.

Kind of interesting to think about. Both sides have different end-goals, but the MC seems hell-bent on trying to vanquish the order, in spite of knowing the destruction it may cause.

But, opting for peace in the Order’s vision is not exactly “good” either.

DEATH TO THE AUTHORITY. PLASMA MAGIC ON TOP!! :plasma_magic_var2: :plasma_magic_var1:

Thats actually related to my very speculative idea on how the plot of the Marauding Sea ties into the 6th Sea.

Cause apparently, the Order was trying to unseal something, right? Since this seal is likely been around for a long time, I had an idea that maybe there used to be a kingdom guarding it. Which does explain why the Order was around for so long, but only seems to be progressing in their goals just recently.

And for them to gain control of that… would be war. So the GN got the AS to help start up a war to take down that kingdom. After it was down, the Order progressed in their plans and then the experiments happened. And MC will discover this in Marauding Sea, which will transition to the plot of the 6th Sea after.

Im also playing with the idea that could be their home kingdom (as MC’s backstory will be important). Since Vetex once said that MC was someone who took pride in using their powers for good, so its actually very in-character for them to have been some soldier at some point. Also, explains why theyre adept at combat.

Not too sure on this since its very similar to Neviro’s backstory. The main difference tho is that MC was actually there and saw what happened.

Its a lot of speculation tho, it might not turn out like this at all

What I think is that AO will revolve around three main opponents and at some point there will be a link between them discovered.
Our largest threat is Keraxe, despite the Order possibly being the overarching antagonist, Keraxe is actively waging war against us and has five sea curses in action. At the moment we know that we have two, very likely three with Akeem, still hopeless in comparision.
Our second largest threat is the Order. There’s still five High Lords against us, and its likely they will eventually track us down. However they’ve been pushed to the side for now.
Then we have the Corsairs, they are pirates and are more than likely will be a major enemy. They have links to the Asyn and the Keraxe war. I assume we’ll be seeing more of them.
In terms of Maria? Well, she was an enemy. Safter for her to be dead than alive.
