The Essay
Warlocks are often argued as being the most based build in AO, which they objectively are. Warlocks are a hybrid build that can be accessed by investing points into the “magic” and “strength” stats. With the coming of AO in roughly a month, and subsequently the 67 minutes players decide what build to pursue, I’ve decided to construct the definitive argument as to why the warlock is, and I repeat, based. Am I writing an essay on a ROBLOX game forum? I am, and with flaming passion.
There are 12 total stat builds in the game, with the warlock being the most powerful and versatile. This is because a warlock has to invest into both strength and magic. Strength is primarily responsible for movement and melee ability, while magic is responsible for, well, magic. Warlocks, as such, possess a standard level of speed and power alongside magic. They’re distinct from pure mages in that while a mage is restricted to long-range combat, warlocks are capable of CQC, or close-quarters combat, and they’re distinct from berserkers in that they’re also decently capable of ranged combat. Warlocks, possessing standard speed and power are capable of (with proper aptitude) dodging a fair amount of attacks, and simultaneously dealing swift, powerful blows. Warlocks are quite literally the epitome of “standard.”
Warlocks have the power of synergy. A warlock, upon awakening, will gain the ability to infuse their fighting styles with magic, alongside a general boost in AoE. Now, this is to be taken with a grain of salt as there are other builds that also employ synergies, but warlocks are among the most unique to do so. Imagine this scenario: an awakened, fire-based warlock punches a warden. The warden wouldn’t endure much damage, but they would be burning due to the DoT-effect of fire. A mere punch wouldn’t do much, but consistent attacking involving barrages and heavy attacks alike would burn them more, and said burning effect may be capable of stacking; if so, a warlock would be more than capable of inflicting immense damage, with any magic regardless. Heavy magic in particular would benefit warlocks incredibly, as said magic infused with one’s physical assaults would deal quite the punch. Any magic, however, is completely viable.
The general concept of warlocks is awesomeness. The idea of lightning/fire-infused punches seems just badass, especially when you get to move super-fast while also throwing hits like a chad. The fusion of wizardry and athleticism is simply quite cool and based, period. This is absolutely unarguable.
Warlocks are based, change my mind.
