Will AO have a good story?

Vetex has said AO might have a
focus on story and worldbuilding, but we don’t know much about the actual story itself so we can’t be that sure. I’d be fine if AO had a standard regular fantasy story but I’d prefer if AO had some unique storytelling and I think it probably will, but do you think AO will have an actual good story and not just be generic?

From Cryo when asked about the story.

This is the closest we’ll ever get to knowing anything until the story itself is released for paid testing.

overall probably no

relatively probably yes

Even though we haven’t seen much story-related content yet, I already trust that the game is going to have a good story. There will be so many characters, kingdoms, islands, etc. that the story can’t even be near bad. Plus, I’m pretty sure there are over 60 parts basically done already; showing that the objectives of all the parts aren’t all grindy quest-based parts of the story.

Being real with you this question doesn’t make too much sense, one we can’t really make a conclusion from others opinions on something we don’t know, and in return have them be right 100% of the time, and two this game is 5 months away from release. It’s really all up to the person but I’d just wait and see, no real reason to rush it

If Vetex could write a story like AA at, like, 17(?). then i expect it to be up to standard here too

isnt that subjective
…anyway, yeah its promising, but we dont know much yet. at this point, you are only starting to understand what’s happening.

nothing against it, i just dont wanna sound bias or claim that its objectively good when we barely started it

vetex can probably make a good story for ao but its way too early to judge if its good or not

From all the characters in leaks and trello shit it’s looking like it might be pretty good and original for roblox but there is no way of knowing how good it will be as a real plot/ story until it is released :person_shrugging:

the best part about the story is that we know nothing

Isn’t there like a huge sky tree filled with books? I want to go there and just read lore in a video game instead of actually playing the game.

personally i would like if he did more with the greek stuff because as a casual player in either reborn or wom… it is at best stapled on and at worst non existant.

Probably about as good as AA’s, perhaps a little worse, perhaps a little better. It really depends on how Vetex handles the new story elements, the way I see it.

Consider AA, for instance. AA’s story was a simple cliche story. You have the conveniently amnesiac main character to avoid going into tricky backstory, you have the wise old mentor who eventually passes down the torch by sacrificing themselves, you have the basic one piece pirate setting but without much or even any elaboration on the political and social ramifications on such a system, the moustache twirling villain who exists simply to egg on the main character, blah blah. I could probably find more if I wanted to.

The only things I really don’t like about AA’s story and will probably not like about AO’s story are the power system and the setting. Greek Mythology based settings are corny every single time, and the only exception to this rule is whenever the story goes full throttle with the Greek Mythology thing. It’s especially unnecessary because they all die shortly after they become relevant in the story anyway (Resurrected Zeus doesn’t count, he’s literally a DBZ-tier boss with no actual substance and function in the story besides being a big bad). The AA islands are okay, but nothing more.

The power system is your basic elemental magic system, which is the most basic, cookie-cutter magic system that an author can ever use. It’s preferable to just never elaborate on your magic system than to sit down and admit it’s a basic elemental system. Then again, he WAS only 17, and he WAS a Fairy Tail fan, so the result was inevitable.

I always find myself wondering why Vetex didn’t just elaborate on the whole Aurem offering thing that he incorporated into the lore. It’s cooler than anything that has ever appeared in any of his games, anyway. I guess we just don’t operate under the same wavelength.

TL:DR I am neither excited nor downtrodden about it. It will probably be exactly as expected.

tbh, fairy tail had some pretty cool ideas like slayer magic (100YQ makes slayer magic even better as well)

I don’t really know many greek mythology themed games that take themselves seriously to begin with, but AA is the only one of them I’d call incredibly cliche.

tbf, the doc says that it was only some gods from Olympus that died, most are actually fine

ya know, if that’s the case, we might just meet some of them.

I boop a greek god/titan

probably 3,5/5

not absolutely gold but not painfully trash either, slightly above average or maybe average
