Do you guys think the full release update will save the game? Like we’ve seen ao reaching new player count lows each day, with the lowest i’ve seen being 478. So do you guys think it’ll save the game, give it a more stable player count of maybe 3000 even after weeks of the update being released?
Yes and no, the game will probably shoot up to around 8-9k players like it did during the nimbus update before inevitably dying down after a month or two
i think the empires or dark sea updates are better examples, they got the player count to around 11 k iirc
Game will be less laggy bc boat optimizations and weather will actually work so maybe
A lot of features people have been waiting a while are being added so I think it’s likely (Warden, arcanium weapons, town NPCs)
Oh and bears too
i think it’s possible honestly. i’m really hoping for it, fingers crossed
It’ll probably shoot up to 10k like it did during when Empires released, or maybe even a bit higher. After that I presume it’ll probably go down to about 3-4k or maybe an optimistic 5k for a while. I think this period will probably last longer than it did for Empires as Full Release has content that appeals to a much wider range of people than just people who like building. Empires’ content aside from building only lasted players so long.
The introduction of the final class along with spirit weapons finally being actually functional will definitely be big attention grabbers. I think all the new moves will definitely do something for the pvp scene(though I’m not too knowledgeable in that area). Things of that nature that affect the actual gameplay the most will probably be the biggest deal. New things to use that new stuff on though, new story, new side-bosses, new animals, etc, will definitely help as well.
Other things like story and what not I do think will play a factor as well, but what I said above will probably matter most when it comes to maintaining an audience.
All that said I think eventually it will probably go back down to 1k players on a consistent basis. I don’t think this will be cause the update or the game is bad, but it’s just kinda what naturally happens for any game, roblox or otherwise, that doesn’t have a really fast addicting gameplay loop. Like there’s no sort of quick play match thing for AO and what gambling mechanics there are aren’t exactly as front and center and addicting as a lot of other roblox games. That isn’t to say AO needs or even should have these things, but it does mean it doesn’t quite have the same staying power as other games. Not without consistent and decently fast updates which so far hasn’t been feasible.
Now it’s possible that AO could end up riding this high from full release long enough until it’s next update comes out in which case it’ll be boosted again and so on and so forth. That all really depends on how hefty these future updates are. Vetex has said in the patchnotes following Empires’ release, that after full release updates would be focused on adding more story and smaller features with the hope there wouldn’t be as many large gaps between updates as there have been. With the help Vetex now has, as well as these post-full release updates supposedly being much smaller I think that may be feasible. There’s no way to tell for certain, but if so I think AO could maintain a pretty decent consistent player count going forward.
Unfortunately, I think arcane odyssey will always be relegated as “a hidden gem” and nothing more, though it deserves more
temporary boost in player count followed by a steady fall until the next update
I predict that, barring the full release, each update will bring in and bring back fewer and fewer players. So long as the game’s underlying issues remain, it’s difficult to say anything will really “save” it.
yeah
Full release will probably have a slightly longer lasting ‘wow’ factor.
Alongside Skyhall, which is gearing up to be the first actual big story chapter of nimbus, we’re getting a buncha micro features people have been waiting for since release. Ship bosses, ghost ships, etc. Animals are also a nice touch, but let me tell you as a tester, I don’t think they should be released until there is an actual ‘pool’ of them.
Do you know what its like to go to an island and get jumped by Smokey the Bear and his gang because there are no other kinds of animals that can spawn?
But yea, there’s so much stuff coming to Full Release I just know we won’t be seeing it for several months yet. Probably not til Summer.
In terms of quality and content I think it’ll almost undoubtedly be AO’s peak thus far, but in terms of player count I doubt it’ll have too much impact – at least not for a notable timeframe. If people stopped playing AO cause they got bored of it, they’ll probably get bored of it again after hitting the new level cap and doing some of the new stuff available
i feel like the title “full release” would end up pulling in a lot of new players rather than people who’ve played before. i’m fairly optimistic with the update’s release
Having a relatively small community has its perks to be fair
Problem with AO isn’t lack of updates, but rather quality updates that focus on its gameplay loop. Vetex puts more of a focus on content that appeals to the casual player that will (usually) only be experienced once, like the story, after which there’s no more content and so the casual player leaves and goes onto another game. That’s why with every update you see a large player spike that dwindles down, whoever remains are the dedicated player base that invests in the gameplay loop. However the gameplay loop has been neglected for so long the ‘loyal’ player base that used to keep this game alive is slowly dying, so yeah maybe the full release update will spike the player count again (maybe even longer since it’s a big update), but it will go down to the low hundreds all the same.
This. People are surprised why AO doesn’t have thousands of people at the same time playing when really it’s just how the game is designed
There’s really not a lot to do if you don’t have a lot of spare time on your hands if you’re looking for replayability. Dark sea often takes an hour at least to be worthwhile and aside from that PVP is the only other thing keeping a lot of the playerbase around
Most likely the same cycle as a before
It’s either “hidden gem” status or a battle pass feature
Probably not. Arcane Odyssey’s problem is not content but replayability. Adding all these new things will be cool and all, but what does it matter if people can go through them once and never come back?
lost magic yt videos will give the game another boost
