Arcane Odyssey is going to be taking place in the War Seas ( Y1854 - Y1857), which many kingdoms in the War Seas have curse vaults. My question is will players be able to obtain curses due to the amount there are in the War Seas or will npcs only have it?
probably not
almost certainly no
I highly doubt any curses would be made player obtainable
frankly they’re cooler in lore than they’d be in-game anyways
Probably not as it could have repercussions regarding the lore and balancing it.
No.
meh, probably not
dibs on a rubber curse if player-obtained curses are available
That would make no sense, both lore-wise and gameplay-wise
i mean it would be cool when you think about it, but it doesent kinda make sense to me both in an ingame point of view and in terms of balancing, and the lore perspective
Player-Obtainable curses is insanely unlikely. It’d mess with the balancing of the game dramatically with just how they work.
At most, we might get an External Curse at the end, similar to AA, as it’d affect balancing the least, since you aren’t immune to physical damage with those. Hell, if we could play and use such an external curse, that’d be great.
I think it’s just a little weird that they say that there is a bunch of curses in the war seas, which is the complete opposite side of the world from the seven seas but they don’t let players get curses.
As for it breaking lore, I don’t think it does because this is an entirely different area than the seven seas, and there is already multiple kingdoms with a bunch of sea curses that they give out to their warriors. This is also not too long before the peacekeeper sets out to obtain all of the sea curses, so it wouldn’t really ruin the lore at all as the peacekeeper is just going to take it from you anyway.
And for balancing, I think it could be balanced out maybe, but remember that the sea rejects curse users, and the stronger one is, the more it rejects the user, so they could end up exploding instantly by just falling into the sea for a second
No, they are not as there is a limited supply as well as them being extremely important to the lore
It’s because there is only one curse for each magic and mutation plus the external ones. Only one. Online fighting was only an exception because it was vetex’s first game in the series and we can just say we canonically became Ramses or something, but it would ruin lore a lot. Even at this point in the war seas
This is directly from the arcane lore page, " Many kingdoms own Curse Vaults, which store numerous Sea Curses, and use them in deals with other kingdoms. Many powerful warriors are awarded curses by their rulers, and battles often contain multiple curse users as a result, which leads to severe damages."
Many kingdoms own “Curse Vaults” which stores “Numerous” sea curses. It even says “Many powerful warriors are awarded curses” and “battles often contain multiple curse users.”
So I dont see how it would break lore if there is already a whole bunch of people with curses in the war seas, and a lot of kingdoms have curse vaults that store a whole bunch of curses, they have so many infact they just use them in deals
End-game for sure. probably not in-game but lore wise yeah.
I’m also not saying that players should be able to find curses like it’s a devil fruit in a one piece game, I’m just wondering if normal players could get them in things like tournaments, wars, etc. instead of it just being a mod/dev thing only like in AA.
It’s possible there’s more than one of each Sea Curse, perhaps. If there’s that many it kinda implies there’s more than one of each type.
Another thing to keep in mind. Players in AA could get legendary weapons. This lead to many players having the same legendary weapon. In the lore, there is only 1 type of each weapon. It would not be out-of-precedent for Vetex to give players curses even if there is only 1 of each type.
Yeah, good point.
I just wonder if there could be more than one curse
Possibly like a criminal organization in the AO story that manufactures artificial sea curses and sells them
they’re of a much lower quality than genuine sea curses but it’d be cool if mid/late game bosses had some of these “artificial curses”
that’d be cool but highly unlikely
