Don’t let this devolve into an argument
Yunno I dont think 200 ping is that bad in AO compared to WOM, since I have more space with AOE and Dashing
while yeah 200 ping is still 200 ping, I can make it work better in AO than in WOM
AO got more lags compared to WoM. WoM’s lags are mostly came from people who trying to destroy Silent Tower non-stop causing lags, but fixing Silent Tower is way easier than fixing everything in AO.
comparing wom 2 to ao, ao is obviously superior. but vetex did say that if he was given time then wom could’ve had the same things as ao, sad there’s not 2 vetexs so we can see both modernized wom and ao
again
Force Vetex brother into making WOM
In terms of story and some other aspects, AO. In terms of overall mechanics and the world, I’d give it to WoM personally
One of the few things that’s almost objective to me is AO being “better”. But if WoM had gotten the TGR and stayed as world of magic and vetex decided to continue working on it as it was closed for 2.5 years, I strongly believe a revamped WoM would’ve been better than AO
WoM surprisingly, even though AO was supposed to fix WoM’s performance issues
Absolutely tolerated opinion. Atleast someone here understand the difference in 2.5 years between these games.
wom def had more potential than ao
a huge continent simply allows for way more possibilities than a bunch of islands
Something that I’m sure most people could agree with, besides maybe a story rework WoM would’ve just been mechanic focused and a general improvement on current mechanics as a whole. AO required a new map, and new systems related to that. Although, now that I think about it, WoM was kinda a shaky foundation compared to AO but that could just be viewing it as it is right now vs a potentially more developed WoM.
WoM was impressive but AO has much more worldbuilding. Once the dark sea is added it will also have a large amount more content.
I had a different feeling when playing WoM that REALLY dragged me into the Arcane franchise(?) and it’s probably the music, I don’t know about the others but the music kind of grows into you while your walking a long distance for a quest.
It was a really captivating experience despite the mediocre graphics that WoM had, sort of felt like I was in the game or something, I can’t properly explain it but it has something to do with it’s supposed open-world feature.
But for gameplay it’s easily AO.
This is polarizing cause AO just seems like another blox fruit esque game, just with a story. I can pretty much expect how it’s going to go for the coming while but WoM was something very new and unexplored. Imagine a multiplayer MMO which was in real time and 3D with immersive NPCs(screw them tho for lag) and the fact that you can pretty much kill who you want no restriction.
The Map was really beautiful and
walking through the beautiful map with trees and structures and bandit camps and clicking on chests is with max agility >>>> Empty sea with close to max speed shit just staring at my phone when I go from one place to other.
Also WoM guilds was WAAAAAY more fun than current guilds cause you had to hunt and the map wasn’t so fucking big and empty so if you were in a server with someone and you’re actively hunting them without a bounty board it isn’t as big of a pain in the ass then seeing “SALING IN THE BRONZE SEA” .
Also island farming is contested pretty rarely but that’s only my experience maybe other regions like USE have more fiesty players.
Also you spawn where you leave so no going all the way accross the map for one stupid reason and going all the way back 5000m in case you glitch out mid sea/fall out of skyship/ die.
Second Vote:- AO is currently better than what WoM was but WoM would’ve been better as the end product.
Third Vote:- WHO THE FUCK GOT BETTER PING IN WOM
This
are we remembering the same WoM?
People saying WoM had more potential are kinda insane.
Anybody with any foresight would be able to see that the map was simply too big for roblox and players being able to start at any civilization and any town would completely decimate any potential for unique important areas.
How on earth would bosses be generated? There ain’t a single person that genuinely thinks that the spawn system the two bosses worked with was good for the “main story”, dare I even call it a story, right?
Imagine if every single boss in the entire game from level 1 to level 5-fucking-thousand spawned like that?
That’d SUCK.
Even if bosses spawned with unique structures they’d still just be randomly in the middle of nowhere with literally 0 plot significance.
And you know what’d happen if bosses got entire areas dedicated to them?
One player unlucky enough to get the new greek civilization would have to trek literally across the entire map to get to ironport to fight the first boss of the game.
You gotta remember we only hit level 90 out of level 5000 and only got like 1/25th of the total planned map and only a handful unique starting locations.
The bigger the game got, the bigger these problems would get, and I’m glad vetex realized before it got worse.
Put simply, I feel that WoM was more magical, but AO is objectively better designed. Not perfectly or even greatly designed, just better.
ehe
The one big thing WoM did better than AO for me was exploration, obviously AO has better random gen stuff but the base map is LACKING.
There’s way less ancient text and secrets aren’t secrets at all but rather tasks.
In WoM there were around three ancient text sights and the magic circle. AO has ONE and also had an ANCIENT Hall with no ANCIENT text, AO has the potential to have more obviously (maybe vetex is making them more numerous the closer we get to former Olympus) but the lack of them rn is disappointing especially when diving spots could contain them.
Lastly I already ranted once about this so this’ll be shorter but secrets in AO aren’t secrets at all, they’re tasks to check off a list. WoM had actual secrets that rewarded exploration instead of forcing it or being a necessity.
