World of Magic - Information Guide to all 23 Elemental Magics

I’ve worked with pointyyou to make a damage calculator based on a lot of this research, you can find it here: https://embed.calculoid.com/?calcId=81454&apiKey=11cb56aa5f2983254ed78

or see my post about it here: https://forum.worldofmagic.dev/t/spell-damage-calculator/24692?u=thatoneperson

thank you meta, for all of the research that let us make this calculator possible

Aye Meta, I did some tests and discovered that Acid doesn’t seem to clear burning targets

Screenshot_184

— Acid on burning target:

— Fire on target melting from Acid:

Edit: had a problem with the testing, post should be accurate now.

Thanks for pointing that out. Went ahead and fixed it.

Thanks for the quick response! Another thing I noticed: In Plasma’s magic damage interactions, you mention separately that it also applies the Petrified status to charred targets
Screenshot_185

But you didn’t mention it on Fire’s magic damage interactions
Screenshot_186

(Both still mention it in their respective Magic Interactions and Effects section)

Also, since you’ve changed Acid’s interaction with burning, you can put it together with bleeding instead of leaving it separate

Edit: Noticed Magma is listed at both 4th and 6th places simultaneously on Magics by Impact Damage

Hey meta so i tested out snowy damage bonus to ice… AND it seems to not boost it at all or its just a bug that npc magic effects cant mix with the player’s magic effects which is dumb anyways heres the proof https://medal.tv/clips/30836149/d1337X4rErpO

Important informational update to the guide.

I finally figured out how exactly destruction works, so I was able to fix and find accurate destruction affinities for every magic with the help of @Fluect. We also split destruction into two parts, part destruction and structure destruction.

Part destruction is the magic’s actual destruction affinity, which is the type of destruction that creates craters and destroys parts of structures, while structure destruction is a magic’s destruction affinity times its damage affinity (impact damage multiplier), which is the damage dealt to cause entire structures with HP to collapse/be destroyed rather than have their parts individually removed.

oh dang, so that’s why 20/20 blasts do so much damage to buildings.

wouldn’t it be better if buildings would collapse based on a percentage of parts destroyed or something like that I dunno.

Like the parts would have their own health and stuff.

Added a missing interaction between Sand Magic and Lightning Magic (they create glass when clashing).

light and lightning have their overall damage listed as less than their impact damage

Fixed. Forgot to change this.

Magma is listed twice in “Magics by Damage Affinity” - once at 0.975x and once at 0.925x.

Fixed. Thanks.

Same section, plasma magic’s still using pre-nerf values of 0.825x. Should be 0.775x.

Fixed that as well.

A while back I parsed your document to rewrite the wiki’s Status Effects page, and people have been making lots of corrections to it since then, so I decided to pay back the favour and dust off my parser to tell it to give me all the differences between:

The wiki page.
The bulletpoint Interactions section in your status effects sections (eg “Increases the damage of Gold spells by 90%”).
The bulletpoint Magic Damage Interactions section in your magic sections (eg " Deals 90% more damage against frozen targets and clears the effect")

I’ve checked all the mismatches against the trello and as far as I’m aware, the wiki is always correct. There may be more info that all three sources are missing, so it might be an idea to go do a quick refresh on the trello.

Thanks again for all the hard work you put into this document!

Edit: Oh, and lightning has two bleeding interactions listed - one as +10% and one as +10% and clear. +10% and clear is correct.

Spell charging is affected by lag. Fully charged spells also take 50% more magic energy (lag can make it take even more, however) and have a 50% greater AoE.

First part of the second document needs a bit of changing, from what i remember. This was changed to be server side instead of client side about a month ago. It can probably still depend on server sided lag, but that should be specified so people don’t get confused, and think that because they have a lower end computer than they’re at a larger disadvantage than normal. correct me if that was just for cast time instead of charge time.
