Worldbuilding

So I’ve done this before. I had an old worldbuilding thread which I occasionally posted ramblings in right here:

The main issue with this is that:

  • My world has changed significantly
  • My characters have changed significantly
  • My ideals/purpose/goals behind worldbuilding have changed significantly.

I don’t like my old world and 90% of that topic is no longer relevant, hence I’m making a new one to start afresh.

Why I Worldbuild

I worldbuild for many personal reasons. Mainly, because its fun, but also as a way to compile my life thoughts, feelings and opinions in an interesting way.

How I Worldbuild

I don’t have an end goal, and rarely actually can be motivated to put pen to paper and write, so I worldbuild whenever I feel like it. This means that most things are half written and unfinished ideas, which some people might not like but I’m fine with, since I’m not in a rush to have a ‘complete’ world.

I usually take inspiration from the people I’ve met, places I’ve been and media I have interacted with to form ideas.

Now this isn’t a great world, in more ways than one, but let us get into it.

The World

The Universe is Everything, Everything being part of three major concepts called Space (Where stuff happens), Time (When stuff happens), and Hierarchy (Why stuff happens).

This happens through three infinitely complex networks of strings permeating everything called the Sammith (Space), Saiis (Time) and Serreth (Hierarchy).

These three networks can interact with each other in limited ways, but remain independent.

Every living thing are creatures of Hierarchy, so from here on out, I’ll be only referring to how Everything began from the perspective of Hierarchy.

The Beginning

Through the Serreth, two similar but distinct things flow. These are energy, of which there is a more powerful denser form and a weaker less-dense form, although both serve as the medium in which Hierarchy happens.

At the very beginning, before everything started, for an instant where time didn’t flow and also equally for an infinite time, Serreth existed, and it began to coalesce into two masses.

Everything then began to happen, and where the Serreth formed into these two masses, two more things were made.

The first, the larger one, was the then singular Rift, a complex tangle of Serreth without reason or purpose. The second however, was conscious. Why it was conscious is not to be known, since consciousness is just a phenomenon which occurs when energy is at the right place at the right time and nothing more can be said from that. This second thing was Rethizal, Death, for at the beginning of the beginning only the end existed.

The Serreth continued to move, and more of the Rift began separating, forming immensely powerful conscious beings.

Gods

There are three tiers of Gods, one tier of Upper God and two of Lower Gods.

The Upper Gods are the Tarikis, Functions. Each represent a core concept of the universe. They are immense conscious creatures that exist of the denser type of energy separated from the Rifts at the very beginning.

Of the Functions, I have fifteen so far, although one of these was killed and reborn with a new consciousness during the events of my world. These are:
Rethizal, Death.
Belamuk, Chaos (The First)
Parzias, Chaos (The Second)
Det, Balance
Ceisa, Order
Leipsis, Absence
Fethesi, Fate
Xatrebes, Desire
Zerseris, Willpower
Ilut, Fear
Vathukart, Interaction
Hales, Motion
Ewesniada, Heat
Uyusic, Gravity
Oreros, Amber

The lower gods are the Arasirikis, Deities and the Miarikis, Divinities, of which there are potentially thousands. These for most of time, were the residents of the universe. Most of the Deities are significantly older, being formed back near the start of the universe out of the denser energy, while Divinities are formed of the less dense energy and many of them are very young compared to the universe.

The difference in power between the lower and upper gods is similar, if not greater, than the difference between mortals and the lower gods, with Rethizal the strongest by far amongst Functions.

The Celestial Game

Gods are naturally creatures of anger, creatures of jealously, greed, and war. They struggle to coexist, and therefore the Celestial Game is played.

Everything that happens in the universe is the moving of a piece in this game, each divine creature vying for the checkmate. The creation of planets, mortals, and many of those mortals’ wars are just moves in this game.

Domain

As powerful creatures of Hierarchy, Gods can manipulate some of the Serreth. The Serreth that any god manipulates is called their Domain.

There are a few rules for the manipulation of Domain:

  • Pulling at the Serreth is an extremely arduous task. It takes much effort, willpower and energy to do so even for a Deity. It is easy for a Deity to accidentally die overexerting themselves in some great act.
  • The strongest Gods touch the Serreth little. To preserve their power, Functions usually do not meddle in the Celestial Game for this reason.
  • Mortals cannot touch Serreth, nor see it without help from a God. Usually this is in the form of Deities using the Serreth to bless their followers.
    • Mostly, the purpose of a blessing from a Deity is decided by a Deity, but with practice mortals can slightly tug on the strings themselves to alter the blessing.
    • There are devices and tools that can manipulate Serreth further, so while under a blessing Mortals can gain a much more solid access to a very small Domain.
    • Some Mortals, such as those with Eternal Blessings of the Gift of Magic provided to the Royal Families have their own permanent domain, although weaker than that of Gods.

Ers Seret

The Ers Seret are a pantheon of sixty one deities who poisoned their Domain as a play in the Celestial Domain. This prevents other Gods or Mortals other than themselves from accessing the Serreth in this Domain completely.

The leader of the Ers Seret is a Arasirikis called Mathikia, known as Ers Magregix, the Queen of the Ers Seret.

Death

There are two ways you could define Death. One, is the end of a living things life. Its decay. It stopping working, beginning to break down and not regenerate. Two, is the destruction, for whatever reason, of the body a consciousness resides in.

In this second case, Rethizal comes in, who will take the now bodyless consciousnesses to rest in the Rifts. Notice here the Rifts plural, as since the beginning they have split into five distinct relatively stable bodies being the:

Greater Silver Rift
The largest of the five, a very large silver and black spherical structure positioned at the core of the Host Planet.

Lesser Silver Rift
A smaller silver and blacks structure which encircles the Greater Silver Rift as a ring.

Gold Rift
A golden spiralling and sharp edged structure which encases parts of the Greater Silver Rift.

Grey Rift
A set black and grey rings around the Lesser Silver Rift.

White Rift
The smallest rift, which both exists inside and outside the Greater Silver Rift. A white and black surface, with an extremely black core.

I’ll continue to post stuff here in a bit probably and try to keep this updated rather than letting it collapse into outdated stuff. Please ask questions as it really helps the thought process.

1-How other deities view Ers Seret ?

2-Do deities use mortals because of their inability to coexist if it is how come sixty one deities formed a faction and choose a leader?

3-What happens to a domain after a deity gets killed can any other deities absorb it

Plenty of them don’t trust the Ers. Many of them might fear that some of the members may attempt to influence their followers, others may fear that their own Domain will be influenced by the poison. There will also be some that are neutral towards the group existing.

In the short span of the Celestial Game when Mortals have existed, they have always been pawns of the Deities. It’s not true that every Deity will hate every other Deity, but in most cases there are opposing ideals and conflict may arise. A singular mortal has a relatively insignificant lifespan, but an army on their side is no weak thing if they ever arrived at all out war with another Deity.

The Ers Seret are a bit of an outlier in terms of so many deities being explicitly allied. There’s definitely infighting within the group, but most of them owe Mathikia for teaching them how to poison their Domain.

Domain isn’t a singular thing, since it refers to a collection of related strings of Serreth, and if they’re not poisoned, there will be some overlap between the Domain of two similar deities. If a deity dies part of their domain may be inaccessible completely just by chance, but eventually the energy of the body may form another consciousness and again by chance, the domain becomes accessible again.

this ideals is about the development and future of the universe ı suppose so celestial games checkmate is eliminating other deities to develop universe in his ideals?

The idea sort of is that since there’s so many deities of such equal strengths, there will never truly be an end to the game.

Their motivations are similar to what motivates world leaders to go to war, I suppose.

Time

On the planet that hosts mortal life, a day is approximately the length of just over 22 of our hours. Years are almost 20% longer (based on hours), being 477 (their) days long.

The average life expectancy of a mortal in the period where most of my written events occur is significantly higher than the comparable time period in England, for example, (About double in some parts of the world). This sort of makes sense, because despite a lack of modern medicine, Gods would probably want the Mortals they have created to be useful for as long as possible.

Every 10,000 years, labelled from 0000 to 9999, a segment passes, each of which is named after a letter from the Acentan Script used by the Gods.

There are about twenty seven segments in each Era.

Mortals have only resided on the Host Planet for the last part of the 4999th era, the 5000th era and the start of the 5001st era. This means various mortal species have existed for maybe about 375,000 years on the Host Planet by the time most of my ideas start. Unfortunately however, due to cataclysms mainly caused by the acts of Deities, civilisations and entire species are often wiped out completely, causing mortal progress to start again from the beginning.

Is this more peak worldbuilding fr?!

Worldbuilding stocks on the AO forum are so up rn

Hi. I’m Syk, the real roleplay host of the forums, unlike this fraud by the name of Randomness. I’m here to tell this fraud by the name of Randomness that he misspelt his title. It says “worldbuiding”, when it should say “worldbuilding”.

bows and leaves

Oh my gorb hi randomness!!

Wanna hear a random worldbuilding idea i had?

LOL okay fine :hand_with_fingers_splayed: :slightly_smiling_face: :hand_with_fingers_splayed:

worldbuilding stocks right after I invest

Oh my gorb hi dubious

sure lol

Ers Seret: First 32 members.

I’ve named the first thirty two Ers Seret members. This takes a while since each Ers Seret member has a Canonical (God) name and their title, but doing this is pretty easy and allows me to consider how the names and titles of each are structued and build up a few ideas about Acenta, the language that the Arasirikis use.

If you want to know, only Mathikia and Aboria have any more character behind, which is probably a pattern that appears lots in my worldbuilding. If I want to add details to any member of the Ers I can otherwise they’re just here existing lol.

Organisation

I organise my notes with Obsidian and I cannot recommend more. I’ve seen alternatives very similar to Obsidian specifically for worldbuilding, but I like the complete customisability that you have, and it lets me use the same app for both my personal notes and worldbuilding.

It’s not open source but is completely free (for its most basic version) and has a massive range of (usually open source) plugins.

There are a few paid plans for syncing across devices and stuff but like… everything’s on your computer, you can use a version control system (there’s a plugin for free Git integration which I use).

It also lets me do funny stuff to organise them like this database/gallery structure.

Or the graph (if you’re creative you can definitely think of a practical purpose for this but I just make it look nice lol).

So yeah, would recommend to any worldbuilders out there. Or people who want to make notes for literally any reason.

  1. Is it possible for lower gods or mortals to ascend to the power above them so mortal —> Deity or Divinity or Deity or Divinity —> Tarikis
  2. If it is possible how, and if not what tools or abilities can lower the gap

Also hi randomness haven’t talked to you for a bit :waving_hand: : )

what website/program is this?

Each being is fundamentally different (Arguably the Tarikis [Functions] and Arasirikis [Deities] are both the same sort of being made of the denser energy, but the difference in magnitude between them is too large to consider that ascension happening)

Demigods exist which can raise Mortals closer to that of a Deity by providing them with some access to the Domain of a God… but they aren’t like tradiational mythological Demigods, since they aren’t the children of a God and a Mortal. Instead, a Demigod is created when the consciousness of a Mortal inhabits the same body as a fraction of a God.

An extreme example of this is a character called Akos Frost, who is the only recorded Mortal to be risen to the state of Demigod by a Function (Belamuk, Chaos). Eventually what happened here is that Belamuk completely took over Akos’ body and used it as an extension of its own, which isn’t a great fate.

Hi icy pretty cool of you to show up

Worldbuliding.

Fine! You caught me again! I’ll fix it for real this time.

Like for the first time in ages I had inspiration to write and well, rather than finishing something I was writing for somebody else and have put off for like almost two months now, I instead wrote something in this universe. Why?

(Spoilers for this writing)

Well there’s this character called Iri who I just… killed off… in previous lore. Like, she just gets a knife thrown at her and dies…
That’s genuinely just a pathetic way to go out so I wanted to give her an actual fight since she’s supposed to be an extremely skilled and careful duellist.

Okay here’s the story go read it and reply to it for my ever important forum clout
