In my opinion it basically is, but if you manage to make them functionally/visually different from each other and have different traits and interactions, I can see them being unique enough from each other to not be repetitive
In lore it wouldn’t be redundant at all, but ingame it depends.
Smoke could have a blind gimmick where being in its clouds gives stacks of blindness like Light, but like Mud Magic it’s too advanced for Base Magic but too boring to be a Lost Magic
Honestly I think that smoke would work better as an ash variant.
but if you wanted to add it as its own separate thing, then maybe have it blind people more effectively than ash does? Y’know, because of smokescreens and all of that
