no its a kids book it belongs in a elementary school library

just a reminder the game blatantly delivers the fact that there was a genocide of a entire kingdom…
im overexaggrating everything in this so yes means yes neutral means neutral no means no. just because i say its so dark it shouldnt be on roblox doesnt mean im serious
I think the story itself isn’t necessarily “dark” but the lore behind it could be considered to be.
There is a good chance that the answer would change if it wasn’t on roblox.
It could be worse, honestly. The only thing holding it back is most likely Roblox’s TOS. There’s most likely worse things that have been done in the AO universe, and one of them is the Player, Morden, and Tucker being experimented on(and kidnapped before the experimentation/false imprisonment), which would already count as crimes against humanity/torture.
Anyways, as you mentioned, there was also a genocide of an entire kingdom, which would be on-par with the Holocaust, albeit downscaled and watered down to seem relatively obscure in AO’s current storyline. However, this really makes me question what’s the worst thing that’s happened in the AO story so far.
It’s just 1 morbillion people die because of villian and you have to kill the villian… but the adience doesn’t know how much 1 morbillion is so it loses a lot of it’s punch. It’s like saying its 1000000km to xyz, sure thats a lot but its just a big number really.
Nah I wouldn’t say the lore nor story are dark. While they do revolve things that are naturally dark around war, deicide, genocide, piracy and violence etc, it doesn’t really delve into the darker side of these things beyond the surface level most of the time.
The darkest parts of AO as of right now are probably beringer’s torture, the winterveil extermination, the mistral extermination, and killing calvus/the noble siblings. But none of these stood out to me as being “dark”, mainly since they’re presented via a roblox game but even roblox games are capable of being unsettling at times; I saw these things and thought they were interesting/surprising rather than messed up and “dark”.
I mean there is that one room in the abyss of charon that’s pretty much covered in blood and human flesh, but otherwise eh
If blood and dismemberment were kept like how they were originally gonna be then ye
… The game really doesn’t deliver that feeling. I get that it’s supposed to, but when I hear “King Nero killed all of innocent citizens of Winterveil”, I don’t feel at all like “That’s horrible!”, more like “Damn, so I guess he’s evil”.

At Yasuie’s execution, yes, I was sad for Yasuie, but what really got me was Orochi’s crime upon the people of Ebisu town. The fact they arrived to the execution just in time to see their village’s hero be killed only to start laughing was brutal. They didn’t laugh because his death was funny, or a moment of joy, but because they literally couldn’t show any other emotion due to the malfunctioning Smile fruits. I felt pretty horrified and disgusted here, seeing people who want to cry, show their frustrations and anger, but are forced only to laugh. This is dark.
if you deeply think about it then its genuinely horrible
this guy literally fucking massacared thousands of innocent people who had no part in a war because he felt as if his throne was being threatened by a rivaling kingdom
Yeah, but it isn’t impactful enough like that
Same issue as with most story characters, flat as fuck
We’re also supposed to feel sorry for Tucker, but it doesn’t help that Morden doesn’t do jack shit to explain our past or why we should care
In terms of being dark for a story we were mostly shown through blocks, no. If we watched it happen with something other than Roblox, definitely.
It has human experimentation, genocide of an entire kingdom, we literally see a guy with a huge gaping hole in his stomach only kept alive through drugs and forced to reveal information through a truth serum, doomed to die and he’s still talking when we meet him.
Even if you take the merciful route, you HAVE to kill Calvus. And since we hear a slice sound instead of magic or whatever, we either slice his throat or cut his head off. Pretty much 90% of the rest of the bosses you fight die like this if you’re going the ruthless route.
The boss that didn’t get directly killed by you was crushed by the roof and Fort Talos falling on him.
And that’s without taking in the Arcaneverse’s entire lore in general. You know, 80% of civilization being wiped out, still being able to find rests of people in huge clusters of magic-polluted seas who mutate people sailing through them.
But Dark as in “not suitable for teenagers”, nah. It’s in that borderline “tell a serious story” and “my brother in christ it’s roblox, the best blood you’re getting is a png onto some textures”.
its definitely held back by roblox being a family friendly platform
we havent really gotten far into the story yet but with the order doing human experimentation and other stuff, its got potential to get quite dark
some areas like makrinaos and the dark sea are quite grim though, definitely doesnt “belong in an elementary school library” (idk why anyone would vote for that when its clearly not the case lmao)
