Birds chirping, workers whistling and the screams of Summerholdโs civilians.
An average day for King David Silver was a simple routine; wake up, eat, paperwork, paperwork, PAPERWORK, sleep and repeat. Today, thoughโฆ, today was divergent.
The loud, echoing footsteps of David Silver were heard as he walked down his empty hallway. He adjusted his cape, made sure his crown was in its proper position and finally pushed open his castleโs doors.
There they were.
Todayโs attackers, your average bandits, nothing special. David let out a sigh as he drew his signature magic circle, his first and only thought was to end this as quickly as possible.
โGreat Flare!โ The sound of what seemed to be a thousand fireplaces filled the air as a gigantic sphere of fire flew through the air into the general direction of the bandits. One bandit had quick reflexes and jumped out of the target area of Davidโs attack. The restโฆ they were nothing but ashes.
The bandit, filled with fear, looked at what remained of his comrades. His body violently shook, adrenaline filling his system. He felt rage, of course he would after watching his friends perish but what he felt more was fear.
As he stared directly into King Davidโs fiery eyes, fear overtook his body. โSo this is Summerholdโs ruler, huh?โ was the only thought coursing through his mind.
King David Silver stared made eye contact with the final bandit as he prepped his next attack, one sure to wipe away the attackers for good. The bandit, still stuck in place desperately made an effort to delay his imminent demise. He reached for his bow, which was stowed on his back.
Just as soon as he loaded up his arrow, ready to attack King David, he looked up and was met with a giant flaming sphere. In less than a few seconds, he joined his comrades as ashes on the streets of Summerhold.
King David Silver never felt remorse when he โdealtโ with criminals. He didnโt feel joy, sadness, nothing at all. It just felt like a routine to him. To David, taking a life was just like paperwork, an obligation.
He let out a stressed sigh as he turned around before disappearing into his castle. Some civilians spotted him on the way, most of them cheered while a few ran from him. Personally, David never cared if civilians feared him, he didnโt care if they liked him or hated him either. All that mattered to him was their safety, nothing more.
A few hours later and King David is seated on his throne, his head on his palm. Ever since his lunch, he has been suffering from a severe migraine, no matter what drug he took, none seemed to have an effect.
David, even though he may not seem like it, places a lot of trust in people so he would never assume one of his workers had poisoned him. He didnโt have time to dwell on the thought as he heard the shriek of women and children from outside his castle.
He was shocked, startled even. He never anticipated two attacks in one day, not once had that happened. David, in a rush ditched his cape and ran straight out his castle to view the scene for himself.
Twenty, no, at-least thirty hooded figures were seen rampaging the streets of Summerhold. Dead bodies everywhere of men, women, even children.
David was enraged.
Most people would certainly describe King David Silver as a stoic, somewhat emotionless person. It was nearly impossible to tell when David was troubled but today, it was quite obvious he was beyond furious.
He didnโt hesitate to activate his mode spell and his hover spell in a quick succession. He spotted his first victim, a hooded figure pointing a sword at a child. He couldnโt use Great Flare, the attack would surely hit the child as well.
Instead, he used his flight spell, Fire Rocket, to hastily reach the perpetrator. The attacker looked upwards and saw David towering over him. In shock, he dropped his sword, it made a loud sound as it rattled on the ground, a sound loud enough to provide a distraction for the child to escape. As soon as David saw the child had fled, he wasted no time in attacking.
โFlame Stomp!โ Immediately, the hooded figure was vaporised and returned to dust. King David Silver could not afford to waste time on a single attacker, there were multiple needed to be taken care of. Thankfully, the Magic Council had arrived on the scene, dwindling the number of villains by a vast amount.
David detected several raiders making their way into the castle. He activated his flight spell and zoomed over there as fast as he could.
As soon as he landed in front of them, he didnโt think twice before activating his self explosion spell. He didnโt care about the damage to property, it could easily be replaced, the lives of the civilians on the other hand simply could not.
The raiders, as well as parts of his castle perished. The explosion damaged several pillars leading to the castleโs instability. Parts of the castle began to rupture, the debris falling around King David like they were mere droplets of rain.
Not once did he budge as the rubble of the now destroyed castle fell around him. He was covered in dust from head to toe as he strutted out of the debris. His vision was clouded with dust particles as he stared at the bloody corpses of his civilians and a few magic council soldiers who had joined him to protect Summerhold.
This was the first time King David Silver truly felt remorse.
If only he had noticed sooner, If only he had taken action quickerโฆIf only-
โAcid Beam!โ
His thought process was cut short as a quick, small but devastating ray of green acid shot through his chest from the back. It just barely missed his heart, it wouldโve been an instant game over if it hit.
King David fell to his knees, the shock from the surprise attack amplifying the damage. He struggled to turn around to view his assassin. The dust from the rubble of his castle clouded his vision but he also felt dizzy from the blood loss and migraine he previously experienced.
He laid on his back, exhausted, not only from the attack but from the amount of energy he used fending off the raiders. He looked up to the starry night sky. One by one, the stars began to disappear from Davidโs vision as his eyes slowly began to close.
The last thing he saw was a tall man hovering over him, the man uttered a few words to David before his demise,
โLong Live The King.โ
