Probably. Genuinely surprised that it’s still going on since my forums usually die in like 30 minutes lmfao.
Skyhallians will be racist like Ceruleans
(Iris / Morden)
The change with Iris I like and maybe that same theme can go for Morden as well. I’m not talking about entirely the same, but with them having their titles “Anomaly” and “Curse-Thief”. Iris you already explained about and I agree with it. For Morden though maybe he can see that Vidan is truly the curse thief after killing his own father for power. Yet Morden also realizes that Vidan is some how the curse only really effected his speed and giving him the properties of lightning, the rest of it all is hard work over the years of his life. What I’m getting at here is that I don’t want Sea Curses to be a thing where you get them and you’re completely powerful. That’s exactly the reason why Morden lost to Julian in a way. So I think Morden has to realize he first has to grow stronger both physically and mentally to catch up to his curses potential.
Heimdan / Brogil Explanation
Something I was going to add for the MC with Heimdan obviously was his son. His son’s name is going to be Brogil or after the story which will be Brogi, since he isn’t sure he want’s to continue the viking legacy as of right now so he retires his name. I want small little sparring sessions throughout the story after you finish a part in the Keraxe chapter with Heimdan asking for you to spar with his son to make him stronger. The first fight will be easy as fighting a low level npc, then it’ll go onto being fighting a max leveled rival, and finally he’ll have a fleshed out fighting style but it won’t be much harder than a boss fight like Iris or Elius. After each session I want Heimdan to give the MC pointers on what to do and building up that trust. I really want the theme of betrayal and questioning trusting people to hit hard. Also I wanted to add Brogil to the group with no special type of magic and if anything have wood magic like his father. It’s cool to have a character that has special blood, a type of lost magic, or a sea curse, but continuing this trope will get old.
(Side Notes since you had questions):
Tsundere : Is a girl that is a love interest in the story who is first very tough and cold then as the story progresses they become more soft and warm towards the character.
Vidan with Lightning Curse : Yes he will have the lightning curse in my fanmade storyline. There will be two back to back boss fights with him. The first will be confronting him with Morden and Morden will sadly sit out of this one after using his curse too much and his emotions aren’t in check so his powers shoot back at him. After beating him he will run off and this gives you time to check on Morden (realistically to let your character heal for the next fight). Then you heard a big explosion coming from Wotan’s room and once you get there you are put into a cutscene of running into the room seeing Veidan about to touch the Lightning Sea Curse, then your whole screen flashes with light. You’ll start to hear some lightning sounds and you’ll realize you’re outside in the courtyard where you were sparring with Brogil. Veidan tells you to get up and shouts at you that the real fight will begin now. After the fight finishes Morden will jump down saying that he saw everything and has a lot to think about. His feelings about this will be explained in Volume 2 of Morden’s Journal.
Oooh I see!! I like that Morden realizes Vidan is more of a curse thief than he is. And I like the idea of Sea Curses not being all-powerful, but that they simply enhance preexisting abilities for the user while also providing the opportunity to expand on the Curse’s capabilities. Elius tells us that only the best Curse users can completely phase into their element.
Brogil sounds like a very interesting character, and I’m excited to see what you’ll do with him! Along with the theme of betrayal, are you going to use these betrayals for the development of the main characters’ relationships with each other? As in, do they realize just how important it is to stick together and trust each other when there’s so much uncertainty around them? In my opinion, that would be beautiful, but it is your story so I’m interested to hear your ideas.
Thank you for the explanation on tsundere. That’s always a fun trope to read about/watch on tv.
Where will Iris be during the fight? Is this plotpoint (Morden trying to fight Vidan with his Curse but failing because of his lack of training) the catalyst for Morden realizing that he can’t just wave his hand and instantly master the Curse? I realize that having Morden getting knocked out yet again by the exhaustion from using his Curse is pretty redundant when the same thing happened in the Bronze Sea after fighting Julian, but maybe that’s what makes him think “Hmm, maybe I should invest more time into getting familiar with how this Curse actually works instead of just using it irresponsibly and potentially putting my friends in harm’s way.” Then Iris might have to get him out of the building they’re in and chews him out when he wakes up, thus really laying it on thick just how badly he needs to train. Maybe that’s a lesson she had to learn with her own magic, which is a very destructive magic that was capable of melting an entire island if she hadn’t been stopped.
