Wtf is an arcsin/arccos/arctan?!?!

seriously I’m failing math

Basically, arcsin is when an archangel sins I think

Well, you see, you have these things called trigonometric functions. Namely sin, cos and tan.

They take in an angle, either in degrees, or radians if you’re based, and give a real number.

This you probably already know.

Arc function take in a real number and give back an angle, it’s the inverse of the respective “normal” (non arc) function.

That’s the gist of it, there are some some nuances, but your textbook probably does a better job at explaining it that I could through just text.

I thought you were fishe for a sec

Who?

basically the inverse of the normal sine functions
think of it as this:

y=arcsin(x) is basically just x=sin(y)

y=arccos(x) is basically just x=cos(y)

y=arctan(x) is basically just x=tan(y)

however the output is bounded so that they’re still functions

Fishe was someone who got banned and had the same pfp

ok that makes a lot more sense

Your pfp makes me want to slap you…

much better

Sry for the small bump.

ignore stuff in curly brackets

Ok, let me try to dissect this

image
this inverts sin onto the y axis
image
this moves the equation to the right (so that it doesn’t overlap with arcsin x)
image
this limits the equation so that it can be a function

aight, I think I learned what I needed to learn, thanks guys
