You are tasked with adding one element of realism in AO. What is it?

Came up with this idea because I’ve been thinking of people trying to insert realism into the most unrealistic settings possible.

Anyway I’d change the Katana animations to be two-handed. I have a katana IRL, and let me tell you, there is no way anyone will be swinging that around at a good speed with just one hand.

The player is now required to sleep, failure to do so will result in them accumulating sleep debt. (Overall stat debuff that increases based on the amount of debt acquired.)

If you become a criminal the story shifts entirely to dismantling the grand navy due to it being affiliated with the order from the start, and only focusing on the order afterward. Since no kingdoms like you the Samaria keraxe war is unintervened upon and most bosses are harder

So does the choice to become a criminal only become a possibility after Calvus? Cause unless he’s killed the Sameria-Keraxe war doesn’t happen.

We’d still end up killing calvus eventually, we’d just kill the king admiral (who I’m guessing is a high lord, or if not we’d still kill them) first then fight death curse calvus who’s still fodder

I’m just gonna re-add gore and call it a day.

Thirst mechanic
Give that one guy a reason besides being the sole funder of AO (forgot who they are)

They stopped for FOUR DAYS and you forgot

dang you beat me to it

I don’t play AO and even when I did I insta delete globals.

Well Vetex just confirmed earlier that curse inheritance can be used with a curse, so Calvus with the death curse has some pretty good potential to be pretty powerful just with raw power alone. Would probably still get entirely gapped by skill though lol.

There’s now a lot more story choices and each influence the story.

boarding actions similar to AC black flag

once you’ve destroyed another ship’s hp, or through using chainshot to slow them down and then sliding alongside them, both crews engage in a melee

it’d make deckhand customization interesting, and give quartermasters something to do other than cargo offloading

also Edward Kenton as an allied combat NPC already exists, as seen in his upgrade mission

Criminal NPC won’t be immediately arrested after you defeat them, you have to carry them to grand navy base by yourself

dual swords deal less damage than one sword(realistically, the perpendicular swing animation would have significantly less power behind it, compared to just swinging them together in one direction)

your musket reload is stopped whenever you are midair or running (walking is fine) and takes far longer

The world changes state in Planck time intervals. The game now runs at ~1045 physics ticks and frames per second.

I would then proceed to play it on my 60Hz monitor.

adding to this, musket reload animation is changed to be more accurate, and the m1 has spread(like 3-4 degrees for realism)
