soulsborne game called ROOT//DRIVE
setting is in somewhat dystopian but not full-blown dystopian future
player is what’s referred to as an “augmented.” in game this simply gives you the ability to equip different drives and also gives you indicators for how to deal with certain attacks, ie by parrying/dodging with different indicators
game’s combat would center around a poise mechanic, where fighting a boss is normally somewhat like most fromsoft souls games but once you stagger them it turns more into DMC where you activate your drive and get to combo them as long as you can
your equipped drive impacts your playstyle, with the big trade-off either being an easier time dealing with the boss pre-stagger or having better combos post-stagger
i do have more ideas but that gets into OC territory and thats when it starts getting loose
necro is crazy don’t just imagine you can make the game, do it. learn how to do it then do it. i’ve spent so long wondering about how cool itd be to make something awesome when i’ve spent so little actually doing it. there’s a genuine joy to having worked on and created something. the initial hump is hard (i’ve been struggling for so long), but it feels so great to actually do it.
so yeah follow your dreams and stuff
My idea is probably a lot more complicated- basically, a pixel art style murder mystery with “open” world, different puzzles and both turnbased and usual combat.
You are accompanied by a bat- humanoid bat- whichs name i have by now forgotten and who is TOTALLY not bloodthirsty- and meet people like a demon, an angel and many more, all while trying to solve who the FUCK just killed that guy.
This quickly dissolves into a good few hours of “oh god, i just spooked an entire cult which now worships me”, turnbased combat in form of party creation and irl time combat in form of a partial bullet hell against specific bosses- all while you gradually loose more and more of your perceived humanity and sanity alike.
Basically, cutesy and fun and maybe more of a seeming “dating sim” in the beginning, only to quickly reveal it was actually a grimey exestensial horror all along.
