You think we'll meet Averill?

Well, if the clouds are magic-polluted enough to create Ancient Lightning just by existing, (wait, what is Ancient Lightning Magic even based on?), then I’d assume the rain that drops from those clouds is the same.

On a side note, I hope that in the future we get other Dark Sea lightning variants, like Blaze.

well I know you have to be at LEAST 50% submerged to detonate from seawater, and rain isn’t gonna do that

no to both of these
i am completely unironic about finding averill hot not sorry guys

The rain gives you water poisoning and everything is the it is in the dark sea cause of magic pollution it’s likely that is too. Also not sure where the 50% submerged thing is coming from cause I’ve never heard that, just that the magic energy in the water harms them and obviously the more of it the more damage it does. If that stated somewhere please tell me where. I’d figure magic imbued rainwater hitting for long enough would be a decently large problem for curse users especially if it’s already a problem for non-curse users. Then again if either you’re right, or curse users have just a higher tolerance than I had believed and can handle being in the rain a bit longer than I thought then I suppose it’s a problem.

I guess it’s just not an instant problem and if need be he could again just go below deck or wash himself off using the presumably more clean water found in a bath like we have on the brig.

im pretty sure something about the threshold for what kills a curse user was said at one point

alright gimme a bit

found what I was thinking of, but this is him talking about devil fruit users in one piece instead of curse users. I might have just seen this out of context, but considering how one piece inspired sea curse users are I think its a semi-decent basis to go off of

Yeah even before you brought this up I had figured that you were mixing up one piece lore with AO lore, though there’s definitely a degree of separation here. I dunno if I’d take that as exactly how it works though. Although sea curses very obviously take inspiration from devil fruits the way they are take damage from water is very different. I think it’s more just about the amount of magic energy that they’re coming into contact with. Obviously you get this effect best the more submerged they are in ocean water, but enough magic imbued rain should be able to do them in if they’re subject to it for long enough.

alright but at the same time theres nothing stopping averill from just having a roof over his head still

I mean, they’re basically the same thing:
World comprised of mostly sea with islands dotted about? Check.
Objects that grant people unique powers at the cost of losing their ability to swim and only one person can have it at a time? Check.
Unique material that exists to counteract a small portion of people? Check.
Existence of other sentient and humanoid races throughout the seas? Check.

Hell, we even got people who could utilize their willpower to strengthen their attacks if radius fist is anything to go by

Yeah I said that earlier

Isn’t that technically @-ing Vetex for something silly, because it notifies you when you’re quoted?

vetex doesn’t ban people for quoting him, since they aren’t doing it with the explicit intention of pinging him

the rule is about mentioning him using @name, not doing something that pings him in general. otherwise anyone who reacts to his posts would get banned

Just to add on to this I don’t see what’s stopping him from just creating a shroud of light energy around him whenever he’s above deck to prevent the rain from hitting him. We already kinda have precedent for this stuff with Kraken, Ramses, & Maria’s magic shrouds. Plus curses are way more energy efficient than magic so he’d probably be able to keep it up for a decent while

What’s the difference? They both do the same thing.

it doesn’t matter I’m still not breaking the rules

We do not need Magic Shroud spell in AO.

What if, hear me out, ships with an enclosed helm exist?

those haven’t been invented yet because something something technological stagnation something curses

Ironclads and electricity exist in the seven seas
