Zormego’s Idea/Writing Hodgepodge

ah yes, my brainworm technique, i haven’t used this one since the heian era

Mateys I just had to help give ear mite treatment to all SEVEN (not five anymore) cats in my house. Took a nasty scratch from the black stray that doesn’t have a name yet; all we can confirm is that it’s a dude.

Anyway, here’s some older documents that I haven’t updated much.

Those are the two Tri-Fusions I’ve thought of. They aren’t on the Fusions Chart because they require three Magic types, and I’m not sure how to make a chart that can reflect that well. If they ever got added to the game (whenever I finish making it an actual, y’know, game), it’d probably end up being a late addition if not added with the Fusion Magic selection screen (which would only show up substantially the second go around, since the first time would only have one option).

The separate storylines and the special bounties/contracts have been scrapped ages ago; I wasn’t sure of how to write multiple storylines that stemmed from the same few events (or more accurately, I didn’t know how to write it well), and bounties/contracts were replaced with side bosses who can rarely put up a request for a fight at arenas.

I might still keep trophies around, since they were designed to appear physically in the player’s home unlike Achievements. Logically speaking, achievements should be a late addition instead of being something worked on over time.

Oh, and if y’all really want to know how long ago the Trophies doc has existed…

This was supposed to be super similar to AO’s stat point system, without determining what abilities you can use. It’s definitely something out of Scope Creep, when someone keeps adding ideas to something in development that just keeps the thing from being finished.

That Level Cap is NOT final.

This was me being silly with ideas. Don’t tell 10/17/2023 (or 17/10/2023 if you’re outside the US) Me that Agility (and every armor stat like one in AO) would get removed.

The only stats similar to something seen in an Arcane game would be Attack Preparation (WoM Casting Speed) and Stagger Resistance (the Endlag part of AO Attack Speed).

I can recreate my main slot, yippee

oh actually something about the moon might make more sense since there’s also sun magic

the flags should be like arcanium and have diff stats

I’m starting to realize that I should’ve put a “Scrapped Stuff” header above everything past the Tri-Fusions.

I know it ain’t much, but I’ve been working on the Gun-type Weapons. Some of their skills just weren’t up to my own standards.

I still feel like these could use a bit more time in the oven, but at least they aren’t as awful as before.

There was also this gun type, but I’m not entirely sure if I want to add it.

Why did I put it in the Weapons folder in the first place? Simple: I saw a meme of this gun above some Weezer boy band, and thought it could be funny if executed well enough.

Add a version with four of those sets of barrels stacked above each other

are there any shield weapons?

I’ve thought of having Shields, but I’m not really sure if I want to add any more Weapons than what I’ve got right now. Most, if not all of the room available for Scope Creep was taken up by the Fusions Chart.

These are the weapons I’ve got so far (Magic Gong might get scrapped, since it’s new and pretty unique compared to the other ones). Even then, some like the Sais and Tonfa might get gutted too because they’re pretty old (talking from the point of “They were around when I wanted to have Fighting Styles and a menu screen that looked like the one from Pokemon Uranium” levels of old).

Oh yeah, I wanted Fighting Styles in the game. That was before I decided to lean into the bullet hell genre; no FS’s ever got planned out if y’all were curious.

imagine pulling up to touhou with just your fists and a dream

Can’t wait for the next Touhou game to have an Oni character who just tries to tackle the player instead of shooting bullets

I also really hope that ZUN quits using generative A.I. for the games; I might actually start pretending that the mainline games ended with 18.5 if it keeps up

Also I forgot I wanted to share this. In my defense, I was out all day in 90+ degree temperatures, which is pretty unusual for Illinois of all places.

The first Enchantments system was meant to be like WoM’s or AO’s: you could get stuff a random enchantment at certain shops or use an enchantment scroll to get the one you want without gambling. In fact, the original plotline (that didn’t get past the Prologue) involved the player getting given a free enchantment scroll of their choice.

The second Enchantment system was made because while I didn’t exactly dislike the idea of Enchantments in the game, I definitely didn’t like it being a bar-for-bar repeat of AO’s system. I figured that, if Weapons could be enhanced by Magic to affect their stats, then Armor could be as well.

Preferred Enchantment System
  • First One (Scrolls)
  • Second One (Magic)

i’d say the second one, mainly because having a whole different kind of magic that enchanting uses would be another thing you’d have to explain

You can just say it’s a different kind of magic and never elaborate any further on it like vetex did

yea but then it sounds kinda disjointed imo

or just add both? say the scrolls are a piece of parchment or what not that can transfer the properties of it’s elemental enchanment to something else

That might be better, but writing out how that works would take a lot of, well, work.

If I ended up going with both, the Enchantment/Enhancement System could work like this:

  • The player can find a Magicworking Shop and spend Scales (currency) to enhance a Weapon or Armor piece with one of their known Magic Types.
    • If the player enhances a Weapon, then it will take on the highest stat of its Magic type, such as a Sword’s Damage Modifier changing to x1.2 when enchanted with Earth Magic. If the Weapon’s enchanted stat is higher than its corresponding Magic Type, then that stat will instead be increased by x0.2 (such as a Pistol’s Attack Speed Modifier increasing from x1.5 to x1.7 when enhanced with Light Magic).
    • If the player enhances a piece of Armor, then it will gain points in a Stat based on the Magic Type, such as Earth Magic granting Weapon Defense and Stagger Resistance. The stats previously on the Armor piece will be retained.
  • The player can also open up Chests (which would be much rarer than in any Arcane games, so they actually feel rewarding to find) and rarely receive a Scroll corresponding to a Magic Type that the Player does not have. This can be used on Armor or Weapons to Enhance/Enchant that item. Hovering over it with the cursor could also show that Magic Type’s stats.

SWORDS (YIPPEE)

I know I said before that I might cut some Weapon Types because of their documents reflecting the original version I wanted to go with (basically AO but 2D if you think about it), but I don’t think I’ll even consider cutting these three. I’ve always planned to have the Player receive one of the three as a starting weapon, partly since throwing the player into a fight without a way to “bomb” like in other SHMUPs is an idea so bad, that it only gets outmatched by the Bee Movie’s plotline.

If I can figure out skills for them that would be easy for a beginner to understand, I’d also be willing to add Bows to the Starting Weapons pool.

There is no curved sword so I’m going with the next best option

it would probably be good to have the starting weapons not all just be different types of swords, bows would make a good contrast to that

Make a metal pipe as a starting weapon
