I am playing Arcane Odyssey again and I have some small-ish ideas or QOL.

  • Arcanium waist lanterns. It sounds like a meme item but this is not a joke. These waist lanterns give 2x the light. Has a medium chance of being found in sealed chests, part of a separate pool to not interfere with current drop rates. I like light because it lets me see things better; I don’t like squinting my eyes underwater.

  • Arcanium torch or flashlight. Also sounds like a meme item but I think this will be legitimately useful. 2x light, click to turn into a flashlight. Works underwater. Same reasoning as above; my brightness is a little low so it’s hard to see whats going on underwater. I just spam e and destroy everything and assume I looted everything. Comes from the same pool as the arcanium waist lanterns.

  • Schools of fish underwater that move around and that’s it. However, these fish have bioluminescence and will light up underwater structures as they move.

  • A plant or underwater creature (like a clam) that created bubbles of oxygen. Touching them would give you a small amount of oxygen. After like 1 or 2 uses they stop producing oxygen, so you can’t stay underwater indefinitely (I would be hesitant to have more than 2 or 3 uses). I don’t like how everything underwater either hurts you or only exists to be harvested. This might not be necessary but I think it would be cool and a good addition if deeper and longer underwater exploration is added.

  • Sea urchins can be harvested WITHOUT OBLITERATING THEM and you can bring them up in boxes to put on your ship (if they were not in boxes they would hurt). To harvest them you need to buy special gloves from certain fishmongers and do a little minigame underwater. You can then prepare the urchin in these boxes to harvest their roe (you can do this on your ship), you don’t do it underwater because then the roe will get wet and maybe be ruined idk i havent eaten one irl. Urchins are of different sizes underwater and only the big ones have roe, this is to discourage you from destroying entire ecosystems every time you visit an underwater structure (you might do it anyways because of spines though) (also harvesting every urchin from a single structure would take forever). These are a food that does something… meals are looking pretty lame when compared to potions in this update, I think urchin roe should give temporary max stamina.

  • An option to make your entire crew hammer your ship when you do it. You have to give them repair hammers in the shipyard menu, afterwards each crew member will do it at half your speed when you want them to. You could also add a new stat to crew members that affects how good they are at using tools you give them, but this might make things too complicated. The downsides to this are that your ship turns 50% slower and you can’t use cannons or rams while using this ability. This ability is meant to be used while your ship is not moving and out of combat. One of my friends randomly mentioned this idea while I almost got stuck at an island.

  • An alchemy book. It starts off as empty, and whenever you brew a potion it will tell you what ingredient makes what. Basically this helps you remember what each ingredient does without having to remember the countless items yourself, and it doesn’t give you information before you’ve figured it out yourself. Maybe you could also click on recipies to automatically put them into a cauldron. Also suggested by my friend. There should also be one for gemcrafting and cooking. Cooking might be awkward since there’s only 3 types of foods that give 3 buffs each, but I think you could list each ingredients food type, buff, and hunger value.

  • A sorted backpack. Please add this one, my inventory scrambles itself all the time and with the introduction of so many random ingredients it’s a horrible mess. Also make ingredient items not fill up your hotbar everytime you join.

I agree with this one, though I think it makes use of Roblox’s default backpack settings which always scramble themselves. I’ve experienced stuff like this in YBA. I don’t think there’s much to be done about it.

Just thought I’d link this here, because it kinda seems relevant for those points.

This all seems like nice things most of us want. With the possible exception of the bioluminescent schools of fish, mostly because those might cause lag for some.

I agree with all of the stuff in this post, but maybe there should be an option to turn off the bioluminescence

Some of these things seem like they’d make the game more laggy, but other than that, I like it.

If vetex somehow deletes lags then i have no problem with glowing schools of fishes

About lag relating to schools of fish: I think Vetex uses StreamingEnabled so I think it’ll only really lag if you’re close to it and even then Vetex can just put 1 or 2 circling groups at different heights at each diving point. Plus, if each fish isn’t acting on its own and rather as a group, then it’ll be just a bit laggy.

Schools of fish might be laggy, but I just think they would be cool. Also they would act as a natural light source for newer players/save files who haven’t gotten strong light sources yet.

yes.
