though i gotta say these are pretty good, i completly forgot that the dark sea taking this long could actually be quite a big thing for some people. not everyone got all the time in the world and the dark sea is a pretty big part of the game where you get most of the crazy loot
Please donât change this vetex, I like to ruin peopleâs days by camping shipwrights and stealing their look
losing 30 mins of cargo = you shoulda known the risk and done it in short bursts instead
losing 30 mins of dark sealed chest = nah this gonna kill the game change it asap
So people arenât actively encouraged to sink damaged ships coming back?
Sure enough
(What is the difference? We are being encouraged to sink the end of someoneâs experience)
Yeah and I made my own suggestion like you said and explained it more alongside some potential caveats.
Me when the Far Reaches gets more stuff added specifically for it and I spend an hour to sail over there, 30 minutes exploring, and another hour to come back and get wiped:
how many times do I have to say this.
cargo and bronze sealed chests are downright effortless.
theyâre EVERYWHERE in large quantities.
Iâd care about the tedium of getting my ship back up and running more than losing them.
unless the way the dark sea has been written is horribly misleading, that is not the case for dark sealed chests which will apparently be dangerous enough to warrant finding a group of several players to reliably get in and out and have fairly large travel times both in and out.
There isnât a âTHIS MF HAS 50 DARK SEA SEALED AND A BROKEN BRIG THAT JUST CAME OUTâ announcement to the whole server like Legendary Charts had
You could still hide and weave when you come out and have multiple shipwrights to choose from depending on how many people are in the shipwrightâs area, and have a bounty board on your Brig to potentially see where villains are
Chances are, theyâre in the Dark Sea themselves because itâs extremely inefficient to wait for people to come out to gank them
wait what the brig got a goddamn bounty board???
bruh with enizor and such we our brig basically be itâs own island.
when is the brig story arc
a portable home even, thats why the brig is gonna be so good for general casual gameplay
also on the original topic:
I hope it wont be all that bad, and that weâre overexaggerating or even being reasonably paranoid (to an extent??)
Iâm worried about this because players leaving the dark sea, especially solo players, are incredibly vulnerable and easy prey for assholes like those I am describing.
I doubt it will happen literally every run but having hours of time wasted because âoh hey free lootâ would absolutely suck and ruin most of anybodyâs day.
There is definitely a part of this community that thrives on doing everything in their power to make other players miserable and thereâs no denying that.
This suggestion is to stop making it so easy for them.
It shouldnât feel like RNG if I get to turn in my loot or not because a group of minmaxed PvP players just so happens to have been sailing near where I re-entered.
I do think it goes off extreme paranoia because of the current AO Ganking Environment
Iâd hardly call it extreme BECAUSE of the current ganking environment where there is little to no tangible reward for doing so and yet it is this bad regardless.
It certainly wonât get better from there being a tangible reward.
Yes it doesnât have the same announcement, does it have the same effect of painting a target on you? ( no of course not because it not the same it doesnât make you a target )
How can you hide from other ships? No really how?(itâs would be nice to know so I could also do it for bronze chests)Your also slower because your damaged
Is it inefficient to raid a ship you happened to see while hunting diving spots?
If you read my first point that itâs not inefficient if your not going for dark sea chests in the first place?
Iâm honestly more worried about people who:
- Donât have the time to actually explore the Dark Sea normally
- Have connection issues
Both of these I feel are going to be more common than people who are going to wait for people to return from the Dark Seas. While on the topic, whoâs to say the people who wait for people to come back from the Dark Seas arenât #1 or #2? Maybe providing them a way to actually explore the Dark Sea in their own time or pace would be beneficial here for both your concern and the majority of players.
Doesnât really apply to Bronze Sealed since they have the luxury of constant shipwrights but I do think you can hide in the 1st layer of the Dark Sea with Dark Sea Sealed if you come out near Ravenna. Even with a busted Brig, I think itll be tough enough to hide on the edge of the 1st Layer until you can get to a safer area to go out, considering Caravels and Ketchs can survive the 1st layer
If Vetex or the Balance Team changed it so Nova Invisibility Potions can affect your ship, then that can prob work too
Iâd say yeah because I donât see any trigger happy PvPer doing anything PvE related in the bronze sea waiting until they somehow encounter a Busted Brig with Dark Sealed. As of now, they only roam Ravenna, Munera, and sometimes Othrys for PvP, and theyâre def not staying in Ravenna, Munera, and Othrys for a good while when the Dark Sea drops
The only time I can see it happening is when the said PvPer is entering the Dark Sea while a guy is coming out with Sealed at the same time and around the same area, which is still pretty unlikely
