Vetex has just started progress of what is likely to be the largest update thus far. To give some food for thought on what the dark sea could have, I cooked up a random list of suggestions pertaining to the dark sea
You can fish up sea monsters
Self-explanatory, you should be able to fish up sea monsters. Near the “start” of the dark sea, you should only be able to fish up low-tier sea monsters like poison jaws and other things on the aberrant tier, but as you go deeper into the dark sea, so should the level of sea monster you should be able to fish up higher-tier sea monsters.
Misc.
-
There should be a bait added, perhaps only findable in dark sea chests/ crates that allow you to attach it to your fishing rod to fish up low-tier sea monsters/ sharks in the war seas
-
The chance to fish up a sea monster in the dark sea should be relatively low, to prevent players from being spammed while just trying to fish (maybe the deeper you go, the higher the chance?)
Seamarks
The dark sea will be completely randomly generated. This is good as it heavily promotes replayability. Seamarks are preset islands that will always spawn in a “position” in the dark sea. They could tie in with major quests/ the storyline
Misc.
- Finding all the Seamarks should give you a badge
Diving Spot: Nest
With the addition of the dark sea, it is very likely that Vetex and the builders are planning out randomly generated diving spots in the dark sea. A “Nest” Diving spot is a type of diving spot that has sea monster eggs. These eggs are guarded by an ABUNDANCE of these types of sea monsters, making them extremely challenging to reach. The eggs sell for a high amount, and could also perhaps be put in the Fish tank found in the captain’s quarters to hatch.
Misc.
-
Only a small amount of the eggs shown should actually be lootable, as the eggs would sell for a good amount (and some could potentially be reagents(?))
-
The higher-tier the sea monster, the crazier the structures for the sea monsters would be
-
Each sea monster should have 2-3 different spawning structures, for variety
Passive Ships
More like a concept that should already exist in the game and not exclusively in the dark sea. Passive pirate ships that won’t instantly attack you should spawn with NPCs that may have some dialogue pertaining to the dark sea and the such. Not much else to say here
Crew Sanity
If you go too far into the dark sea, your entire crew (deckhand, generic crew, etc.) May not listen to you commands or have more “insane” text if you go deep into the dark sea
Lost Castaways
Castaways in the dark sea, They offer better rewards than normal castaways. The main goal is to get the out of the dark sea and onto any island. This could pose a threat as maybe deeper into the dark sea they could attack you, trying to take over your ship(?)
So yeah, those were a small list of possible ideas for the dark sea ideas. Please provide feedback on any ideas you may like/ dislike
