[ABYSS SEA] [CHAPTER 9] Atlantean Sea

(previously: [ABYSS SEA] [CHAPTER 8] The Unholy Nightmares clash, Herald and Spectre (a fight))

(And finally- last time i posted for this was way back in September- :sob: and this has also been in my drafts since November- :sob:)

Bells rang out across the open ocean

One of the Atlantean ships circling mount Othrys saw Maria’s ship as her crew sailed past towards the bronze Sea, and as the ship turned away from the looming mountain above, other Atlanteans noticed and followed, 5- no, 7 ships…

Captain Maria stood over at the ships railings as the multitude of ships approached.
ā€œPREPARE YE SELVES FOR BATTLE!ā€

Aarav Asher stood at the edge near the back of the ship, imbuing his new duel flintlocks in a layer of acid magic while the rest of the crew began to load the cannons

The captains, kill them before they get close, make it so they can’t steer and chase after us

Aarav aimed, one eye closed as his flintlocks were pointed across the open water towards the closest Atlantean ship, towards the mutated Captain. His finger was on the trigger, and he pulled it.

The bullet struck true to the head of the Atlantean captain, then the acid started to do it’s work, melting its brain from the inside. It started twitching and writhing while keeping a firm grip on the wheel, the ship turned, blocking off the path of one of the other ships, crashing and turning it across another, 3 ships, 3 crews of Atlanteans.

Atlanteans are primarily driven by instinct, and the ships hitting each other made them take it as a attack and the crews began a skirmish, whichever crew wins and eats the others will become a stronger crew. It doesn’t stop the 4 remaining ships however as they sailed past the skirmish, heading towards them in Maria’s oversized Brig.

ā€œ3 down with 1 shot- I’m better than i thought-ā€ Aarav mumbled to himself as he turned his attention towards the remaining ships as they neared

ā€œGood jobā€ spoke Maria, standing at the back of the ship ā€œI say ye have proven just how worthwhile you are Aarav, now let me take care of thisā€

Maria took out her dual pistols, the Plunderers, and after a moment of aiming, she started blasting, shooting the remaining Atlantean Captains, causing them to lose their ability to properly steer as the captains fell, then they crashed into each other, and the crews began to squabble over each other ā€œNote, when ye all are to return, steer clear of Mount Othrys, there be an entire fleet circling the placeā€

ā€œNow look forward, we need to see what has become of the capital, their curse user must have kept someplace around there safeā€

Unfortunately, they would soon see that was not the case, they didn’t need to get that close to see, they could see the destruction from afar after they passed windrow

they could see a fight between 2 Atlanteans, the former king Calvus, and another weaker Atlantean they did not recognize, Spectre, shame this group is behind on the news.

They turned around and sailed off back towards the Nimbus Sea, just this time they were sure to take a detour to the far left, avoiding the fleet around Othrys. They got to see some hallucinations from the slightly deeper parts of the dark sea, yipee! Just barely beyond the bronze sea and their minds were under assault. They were lucky they didn’t sail to far out or they would have missed Nimbus and gotten lost, now, where else to go once they reached Nimbus?

Maria as the captain decided for everyone

ā€œWe are headin to the Marauding Sea, going to my people to prepare thyselves, some of these stronger Atlanteans seem to be staying in the Bronze Sea, but they likely won’t stay their forever. Sameria can probably hold off all those weaker ones, we be makin our way to our homeā€
ā€œWell, the home for half of ye, I’ll make sure those who have proven thy worth are treated well as reward for ye contributionā€

Then they sailed off for the journey towards the Marauding Sea

Aarav has survived long enough to reach areas the Atlanteans have not yet reached, he gets to live in preparation for when stronger Atlanteans begin to pour past Sameria and push towards the other Seas
