For now, the “[Abyss Sea]” is just used to say that this story is set in this AU. The concept will be explored more in future chapters.
Also I’m not English so maybe expect more SPaG errors than usual.
Diary of Chad Altaïr
Day 1:
We just entered the Dark Sea, the Captain and I are confident about us returning alive. I don’t know why I started writing a diary now, but I guess it could be useful for later.
Day 2:
Nothing interesting, we fought some atlanteans on some islands and took some chests.
Day 3:
Remember what I said on day 1? Well, guess what? Cassius fucking lost the Dark Sea compass! And the only crew member that remembered where we came from suffered the wrath of Zeus and died! We started sailing back, but I think we won’t see the sunlight for a long time.
Day 6:
Well, Cassius died. A wave just swept him away. Even though I don’t really have any affect for him, it’s still heartbreaking to lost a crew member.
Day 11:
I can’t believe that we’re still fucking lost! And even worse, some of our sailors are begginning to experience the effect of the rain, even with intense washing. We need to get out of this hell as soon as possible.
Day 26:
I don’t think I would say this even once in my life, but this damn weather got even worse soon after we felt some kind of shockwave. When we entered the Dark Sea, we were 50 I think.
We are now 12. Some died because of the weather, others from insanity, and for some of them…
We killed them. They were starting to look more like monsters than humans. They even started killing some of us.
Day 42:
That started soon after the weather’s worsening, but, now I’m sure of one thing.
Atlanteans just fucking disappeared. It’s been a week since we saw an atlantean, and the Gods know for sure that this is really odd.
Day 51:
I hope this isn’t the case but…
I think I’m going blind. I guess that’s probably because of the magic pollution, but…
I’m enable to sense magic energy. And without that, I will be completely blind.
Now we are, 5, I think? Some of us have been surrounded by magic energy for so long, that they got their awakening! Now that we are 5, I think I can do the presentations:
First, the Captain, Riley Carp. Let’s say that he’s strong. He mastered his three magics like no one: Metal, Glass and Water. He’s also able to sense magic energy.
Second, me, Chad Altaïr. I’m one of the quartermasters, and my mastery of Iron Leg and Ash Magic is… well not unmatched. But compared to others, I’m still powerful.
Third, the other quartermaster, Alison Rosberg. She also uses Iron Leg, but I really wonder how she manages to combine that with her mastery of weapons.
Fourth, Bob Lennon. We often nickname him “The Pyrobarbarian“. That’s simple, you want something to burn, it’ll burn. He sometimes does that with his sword too.
Fifth, the last one, Gareth Yahontov. To kill time, he swings his spear like it was just some big stick.
Day 59:
I’m definitely going blind. Fortunately, the Captain saw that, and he’s trying to teach me sensing. I hope that’ll work. But… I have the strange feeling that he’s… bigger? than before.
Day 60:
Bob went insane, and killed Alison in the process. And Gareth lost his arm to a shark. He’s severly bleeding, we don’t have healing potions anymore. I hope he’ll not die.
Day 61:
Now… it’s me, and the Captain. But I feel that won’t last for long.
Day 75:
I’m now completely blind, but I start to see things with sensing. The Captain’s been acting all weird. Please, don’t become insane.
Day 76: The Captain killed himself. I’m now all alone, on a ship, in the middle of a stupidly vast ocean. And what I was thinking was, indeed, real. The Captain was turning into one of those beasts. I guess he decided to end this now when he still was able to do it.
Now, I’ll let the ship sail, I’ll probably die on the way. I guess that I can still train my sensing while waiting for my death.
Day 80:
Wait, I’m blind but…
Is that, sunlight?
