Diary of Chad Altaïr
Day 81:
I can’t believe it! I’m no longer in the Dark Sea!
However, I don’t know if I’m still in the War Seas. We travelled for so long, I could be anywhere. Anyway, for now, I stopped the ship, because sailing is gonna be complicated with my sight. I just hope someone will be passing by, else I think that I’m really gonna die.
Day 83:
From what the Captain told me, sensing is made to sense magic.
Then how am I seeing with it? Well, I’m not really seeing, it’s more something similar to… some boosted magic-echolocation? I’m not able to see very far (approximately 5 meters), and I can’t see colors. But with that new ability, I can finally see the ship (well, parts of it) again.
Maybe I didn’t want to see it. I don’t understand how this boat is still floating.
Day 85:
Now, I can see the entire ship. Maybe I didn’t want that too, the state of the ship is pitiful. If the flag wasn’t there, anyone could confuse the vessel with an atlantean boat.
Day 87:
I finally know where I am: West of the Pelion Rift. I guess. That would mean that we just circled around the Bronze Sea. I have a map and a compass, I think I’ll sail towards Redwake, that’s the nearest civilised place (if I’m really where I think I am).
Day 89:
Sailing alone with a boat made for more than 30 persons is not something I would recommend, as this is not easy at all. I also think I can see farther, but since there’s just water all around me I can’t really verify this.
Still at day 89, but this is to write something that is very odd. I tried to rub my eyes but… I felt like there were rocks on them.
Day 90:
I thinking about this only know but, how will people react when they’ll see me? When I was still able to see normaly, I saw lost sailors in the Dark Sea, and they weren’t exactly looking like humans. I hope that I’m not looking like one of those.
Day 91:
I just passed Mango Isle, I should be at Redwake in a few days.
Day 92:
Maneuvering such a big ship, alone, in the Jaws, is probably one of the worst idea I’ve ever had. I have the wind on my side, I should be at Redwake in a day.
As the boat was approaching Redwake, Chad Altaïr felt that something was wrong. He felt he was being watched, and this feeling was worsening the closer he was getting from Redwake.
Then he heard someone walking. The lonely sailor didn’t hear nor sensed the stranger aproaching until it stepped on a metal part of the ship. Altaïr was waiting for something, but a few seconds later, he heard the stranger whispering something:
”Did this thing heard me?”
”Thing”. The lonely sailor knew he needed to do something to show he wasn’t one of those beast. He figured that the best way to do so was to talk, without moving to not scare the stranger:
”I’m not one of those creatures! I’m human, just like you!” said Chad loudly.
”Well, it doesn’t look like it.” replied the stranger. “Your skin is more blue than anything else, at least for you arms.” he then added.
”You may not believe it, but I’m coming back from a 80 days long journey from the Dark Sea. Everyone is dead, except me.” explained Chad Altaïr.
”I guess this is why your ship is more akin to a wreck than a real boat. I also think that you got an atlantean-free journey after feeling a shockwave, don’t you?” he responded.
”Wait, how do you know that we- well, I, didn’t encountered a single atlantean from that moment we felt a shockwave.” asked the lonely sailor.
”Redwake’s chief will tell you everything you need to know. Now could you turn around so I can see the face of the person I’m talking with?” said the stranger.
After hearing these words, Chad Altaïr knew that he was now safe, so he turned around, showing his face to the stranger. As he saw Chad’s face, he gasped, and then said:
”With what’s on your face, I must say I don’t fucking know how you managed to get here.”
