this is kinda pointless.
why would anybody go down to the true sea floor?
diving points
also it’s still better to see a few sand dunes than just a flat plate
diving points are far from the true sea floor.
they can generate at any depth, one time I had one literally a t jump off seafloor
I’ve never been able to even SEE the true sea floor from a diving point.
Loading and unloading still can cause lag, especially if stuff is being constantly loaded and unloaded.
Also, players have a part visibility limit depending on their graphics. Having extra parts below the sea loaded would mean that low graphics players would be able to see fewer landmasses. If you want an example of this, go to mount Orthyus and knock your graphics down to 3. You literally can’t see pieces of the mountain more than fifty studs away.
Unless the player is basically teleporting between above the sea and far below the sea, it’s not gonna cause that much lag.
And about the having it loaded at low graphics, you dont need to see landmasses deep underwater, so they could just unload.
You haven’t been to the deep diving points then, it’s really not that far down
Okay, but if they’re loaded, it’ll cut off your ability to see landmasses until they do load. And if you’re constantly popping your head under and over water, you’ll be lagging like mad.
It’s not worth the potential lag to have a feature almost nobody will particularly care about.
It literally doesn’t have to be anything fancy, they kept emphasizing on the “dunes” part and I don’t see how that can lag the game with the unloading feature.
Also I believe a lot of ppl will care abt this but you just won’t see it. There are a lot of ppl who play games for fun, specifically exploration, the only reason you don’t see that many of them is because they play, have fun, and leave. They don’t join the games server or anything bc that’s not part of the game, and most won’t even talk to ppl.
You don’t need to see the sea floor from the top of the water. It should only load in when you go deeper to actually be able to see it.
Okay, but games lag based on what is loaded. Now I’ll admit I don’t know much about how Roblox determined what to load—it seems to have something to do with proximity and what’s in the player’s immediate view. That said, I just don’t want to take the chance of having a slower game just for a few decorations that most players will stop caring about after the first few times of seeing them.
Even if they’re just a few large parts, the game already has a rather high part count. I just don’t want to add onto that for a feature that will have a minimal impact on gameplay.
I think it would be cool to see crabs and those sand worm thingies on the sea floor could farm them for materials
man I swear 90% of you are seriously underestimating how effective unloading things are and just how hard it is to see underwater like god rasna gets unloaded at like 100 studs, why can’t this?
No.
Yes.
