If you’re talking about Roblox then it’s shit. It’ll hardly do anything to prevent actual predators and will just divide people and ruin communications on the platform. The thing is that if you just have a sibling or something that resembles a human good enough you could just bypass it. There’s too many security errors and they’re hitting a nail with a missile and just overdoing it. The idea of complete chat ruination is idiotic. As a person who lives in a country where a lot of this age verification started to come from (the U.K.) it just annoys me how corporations have caused our privacy to be in more scrutiny because they couldn’t bother hiring moderators instead of pushing their fucking A.I. to investors. Even WHEN they’re trying to “solve” the problem they still use A.I. because they don’t give a shit. The fact that the CEO literally said “We see them as an opportunity” when referring to pedophiles just further shows that this company does not care anymore. Ever since Roblox hit the public market it all went down because of investors. Now they’ve just become a corporate slop company that pushes child-gambling and A.I. I could go on but I have to leave. I’ll rant here later.
I don’t really talk on Roblox anyway so it’s not going to affect me too much, but it’s just fucking stupid. Who knows what Roblox is going to do with images of everyone’s faces? And I agree with Scoobert here, why can’t they get actual moderators instead of using some AI because they’re either lazy, greedy, or both.

it will do nothing to prevent abuse and everything to make the quality of non abusive players play worse
the intent is okay and somewhat justifiable, the execution is very poor though and it truly doesn’t do anything except try to save face.
in a perfect world where the age verification worked without any false positive, like sure it would be lame that different age groups cant communicate together but i’d agree that it’s for the greater good. i see no issue with the concept that 21+ years old would be sent to different servers from like, 10 or 15 years old, that’s perfectly fine.
I don’t give a piss if giving Roblox my ID will give my chat back; I’m not trusting them with something like that.
Mark my words, in at least a month’s time, there’ll be a massive data breach that affects everyone who did the age verification.
