Parrots are usually always put in a category alongside pirates. So it would only be fitting for this to be the next entry.
Parrots or Crows can obviously sit on your shoulder when walking around.
Special Abilities
These clever birds can pick up things off of islands (Fruits, Spices, and even money and XP from quests)
When you engage in combat, the parrot or crow will fly in the air and start circling you from above. Anyone in the range of the bird will be marked like a clearsight potion. (No you can’t kill it, meanies).
The bird will also say stuff in chat based off of context.
Villains being attacked by Navy: “Told you this wasn’t a good idea!”
Bounty Hunting “Give us your money!”
Someone else on the island “Hmm, I hear footsteps, Captain.”
Ship getting hit “You better do something about this, my wings are getting wet!”
You can improve the speed of the bird and it’s range by feeding it high-quality fruits.
As always, you can dress it up and pick a name for it.
When sailing, the parrot or crow can sit in the lookout tower, perched on the very top of your sails, on a cannon, and of course, on your shoulder.
Also a thanks to @StellaRoti for the art on my previous companion topic
Imo, they should be accessories you can equip in large ships, they would stay in the grandmasters quarters and do a simple animation with their wings moving. they would come in different color variants and patterns, with there being different variants based on rarity.
every 24 hrs, they would give you a random amount of galleons, and also have a chance of dropping rarer fruits, reagents, gems etc. higher rarity ones would give more/rarer stuff
you would obtain parrots randomly from saving castaways or getting them as gifts for having high town rep and obtain crows for having low town rep(Trello)
this would make them cool vanity items that you get for just playing the game and interacting with the world without making them lag the game or requiring Vetex to dedicate an entire update towards them
you’d be able to upgrade them with with the cost LOT of galleons + plus a requirement of being fed a specific amount of rare fruits. It should be costly and timely, so that rarer parrots still have worth(and to incentive people to grind kingdom rep or trade with other players) but still allow people who like how lower rarity parrots look to keep them without them feeling useless compared to higher rarity parrots
at most, I’d say that they should sit on your should and make occasional small animations or sound effects whenever you’re sailing or in populated towns whenever you’re outside of combat, but whenever you enter combat or go on an island that isn’t a town, they should fly up into the air and disappear until you’re in the conditions mentioned above for about a minute
