Anyone remember hytale?

Not sure if the current people on the forums even knows what this game was but it a Minecraft inspired game with more rpg elements from some hypixel devs and the trailer dropped around the time where Minecraft was kinda falling off so seeing this game got people really hyped but unfortunately after 7 years it got cancelled

I think I heard of that before
But damn 7 years? All that work down the drain? Cat gawd dayum

Seven years for absolutely nothing

They teamed up with riot awhile ago and they pulled the plug which due to the devs speaking out the game was supposed to drop in 2021 but riots new devs wanted to rework the entire game

We have a very slim chance of saving the game since the original dev is gonna try to get the ip back

Yeah Hytale…

All that to nothing. A popular minecraft server pivoting to game dev was going to be a likely miss in my opinion. The devs kind of lost themselves and here we are

It had promise, but it was much too complicated for a first-time game studio that just got off of their minecraft server for the first time.

I do suppose the dream died before it even began. I cannot claim to be fully surprised—the project was blowing scope well beyond reason even from the get-go. And, truthfully, I don’t think the team was particularly good at prioritization.

Oh well. Did get some good music out of it, at least.

After watching a video on the matter, I can confirm that scope creep was indeed the culprit. Pity. We could’ve had something great.

> Be a new game development team
> None of your employees ever made a single game before
> Have your first project be a massive MMO
> Development takes years and is stalled by unforeseen problems
> Company goes bankrupt

Why does this always happen?? Are they stupid?

I don’t know all the details but I don’t think it was the entire server just a select few

Oh easily if they pulled it off modding itself could’ve kept the game alive

Sadly yes but I think we have just a bit of hope

lmao I was literally in the start of middle school when hytale was announced, 7 years for NO release, not one youtuber played the actual game. They had to up the stakes continuously to be essentially a Minecraft 2, now look at the countless wasted human labor and millions of dollars. Makes me think the amount of content AO will get in those 7 years.

was all the power and decision making on riot?

I was about to start highschool then and now I’m in college :sob: I remember listening to the osts while doing schoolwork waiting for its eventual release but damn

From what I’ve heard all the new devs from riot decided the game which would’ve been ready in 2021 to rework and make the game engine better but with all the features caused massive delays until riot eventually pulled the plug if there’s even a sliver of a chance to get this game out I hope it does come back

holy fuck this is the worst planning I’ve EVER seen bro :sob:
the minds behind valorant and league btw.

i hope he doesnt start to ask for donations cus that smells like a scam :broken_heart:

i mean tbf hytale would have died on launch, hypixel’s main appeal is that it’s on minecraft lmao

He said no donations or anything like that he’d be purely doing it out of the love of the game I guess

Deadass it sounded like the new devs had no idea what they were doing

If it released how it was supposed to with mossing and dev tools I don’t think it would’ve died on release at least

Also I just realized silksong might actually release before hytale despite being announced a year later

A famous youtuber spoke about it recently.
