Arcane Adventures: Book 1: Chapter XVII - The Undead King

~William’s POV~

Wham!

My vision flashes white as I hit the wall and fall to the ground. Tendrils of pain lace through my body as I fall on my face.

“Shit,” Pax groans.

I struggle and push myself up shakily. Trigno just stands there, his arm raised as if he was blocking something, his body shifting back to normal.

I fumble with my sword and pull it out of its sheath before holding it up with shaky hands. I see that my bow’s broken in two, and breathing feels painful.

Trigno lunges at the undead king and the two clash. Magma and sand fly everywhere as the two curse users duke it out.

I look at Pax. He lifts his right arm up and aims a blast. He fires, but with the way the two are fighting, it’s impossible to get a clean shot. He misses.

“Don’t you dare try that again kid!” Trigno yells. He throws Ramses into a wall and jumps right after him, sending them both down to the ground.

We exchange looks.

“C’mon,” I say. We run down the tower to the entrance.

We run out the entrance just in time to see Trigno get sent into a wall. Ramses stands there, his left arm blown off.

How the hell did Trigno get hit?

“Fuck,” I say.

“C’mon,” Pax responds. “Let’s get him.”

“That’s a curse user right there!”

“So!?”

“My weapons won’t hurt him! Only magic attacks can!”

“Either way we have to buy time for Trigno to recover!”

And before I can say another word, Pax charges his dagger and runs at Ramses.

Shit.

I run after him, brandishing my sword as if it would do any good against a curse user.

Pax fires an arrow-shaped blast at Ramses. It moves quickly through the air and hits the undead king in the chest. Ramses flies back a small distance and lunges back. Pax barely dodges the attack and recovers. He grabs a spear from a dead soldier and throws it at Ramses without even charging it.

Thud!

It hits Ramses’ remaining arm and stays there instead of going through. My eyes widen in shock.

Holy shit.

I run at Ramses alongside Pax. He fires a ray. We dodge it, going in opposite directions. Pax fires a spirit blast. It lands and deals its damage.

We can kill him normally.

Ramses moves towards me. I swing my sword and slash his left leg off. He flies back before he begins to float, a tornado of sand forming around his torso.

Wham!

A line of sand whips from his arm. Pax tries to block it with his dagger. The whip of sand hits his hand and sends the dagger flying into the ocean. Pax attempts to recover and forms a magic circle, but Ramses’ dodges the blast and hits him with a blast of sand. Pax is sent backwards onto his back. He spits out sand and groans.

I look around in desperation. My eyes land on a spear. I grab it and throw it at Ramses. It hits him square on the chest and he falls.

Boom!

A spike made of magma thrusts out from the ground and skewers Ramses. The undead king’s body goes limp, its arms hanging loosely.

“You did good,” Trigno says behind us.

I look at him incredulously. He grins.

I look at the undead king’s body. Something flows out and flies west. I look back at Trigno.

“Took you long enough,” I reply.

He laughs in response.

So you’re using the version of the story where Ramses has full possession of the Sand Curse, and it’s not just a gift from Acheron? Interesting, I’m not sure which version is outdated.

Anyway, I’m always excited for the next part! Great job as always!

Um no

He has a part of the curse, which is why it’s flying west.

It’s flying to Acheron, who has the rest of the Sand curse

Also, William is able to harm him, and he can’t use magic

That makes sense, thanks for explaining!

Your welcome

I have an entire idea for how a curse flies away
