Arcane Odyssey Hot Takes?

I find the fact that there’s a 5 minute cooldown on bounty hunting ridiculous.

What if there’s 4 people at Silverhold all with good bounties? You mean to tell me I can only claim one and then have to sit for 5 minutes while there’s still others I have to deal with for only a fraction of the reward?

mfw it’s an rpg and that’s just how it is

getting 100% on the map seems impossible for some islands
ive been farming treasure charts for days since i finished the story and i cant get a single fucking chart for elm island
im pretty sure charts are given on a ratio depending on the size of an island but there needs to be a more likely chance for me to get this single fucking chart instead of traveling to frostmill and seeing that every single spot is a cliff
it was the same for whitesummit but eventually i finally fucking found one

My character got an elm chart before they were even in cirrus island

what the fuck.

Rng is a wonder.
Like, really a wonder.

it pointless to use cannons on humans the game has 2 kinds of ammo JUST FOR KILLING enemy crew IT DOESN’T WORK AT ALL sure fighting styles and weapons and under powered compared to magic BUT I HAS NOTHING on cannons they don’t do jack to ship crew

Cannons do hundreds of damage so it was way to easy to kill npcs in ship combat, thus cannons no longer hurt NPCs

then why is there anti-personnel ammo?
there a reason I call grape-shot one of the if not the worse kind of ammo because it’s called ANIT-PERSONNEL even tho it sucks at killing crew

also, we are too powerful for just the first sea it kind of makes no sense…
mean think about it level 125 or so is apprentices but we killed a curse holder that was a king of a major faction, not only that but he was a HIGH order member. why would we be scared by the order IF WE DISMANTLED 9% OF THEIR OPERATION IN AS A **APPRENTICES ** in like idk 7 months (6 was being in jail)
and yet they want us to think we are just at the start of the game?

Edit: (how i would i made this part)

I would have been fine if it was just the general that was defeated in the first sea when we got out of jail if we had to run from the king and get our reawaking, to even fight with him(king) and we would still fail to defeat him even with all 4 of us it fighting would make high member orders just yell the high order 100 times more powerful than even the lesser order members

so it would look like this: after knocked out and jailed your broken out there you would to fight the order member (the girl that can regen HP) then you have to run from the fleet along with the king that just got back and was on the fleet. you would escape to get your rewaking but as you are traveling back to tell the news you got it (rewaking) the king attacks you (sensing the power up) there you would have to fight him on your own (but make him unable to be damaged) till backup get there and even then he would run away with the prince coming (mean the fight is kind of loud and shows how they manipulate people) you would still be wanted because the king had time to tell his people your evil and the fact both the king and heir is kind of missing

tl;tr
jail → order member fight → escape → rewaking → king boss fight → king runs away → prince fight

you would get your reawaking (unable to use it in the world without beating the boss) it would show how the order is manipulating people and how powerful they are and how they try to stomp out their enemy not giving them time to power up and are without honor

I thought it said 1 month in jail

vetex had too much trust in people on release to not misclick stats and ruin their build especially with a massive audience, game should’ve released with a fool-proof stat allocation + confirmation system

(i misclicked a stat on a file and ruined my build)

As somebody who clicked the right stats but accidentally messed up their quantities (so I don’t have aura/shot) I agree with this.

my biggest problem is that builds are literally not told to you (or too easily overseeable, because i don’t remember it being told to me). only thing that hints towards a build thing is the name of the build you have rn in the stat page. that is not enough, it tells you nothing and enough people probably just thought it’s a neat feature of telling you what you are, not that there’s a whole system of you locking into a build and that kinda stuff. it’s explained way too late and at that point you are not able to free stat relocate.

level requirements should just be recommendations instead of actual things you need to meet in order to progress ngl.

Once you figure out how treasure charts work they’re hard only for the fact that you need to get lucky with them in order to get the exploration tasks you need.

I had to put my 2 cents in here, I know this isn’t exactly a “hot take” per say (at least, i think we can all agree). I just needed to say this but, the entire portion of the game from the end of the Sky Islands to infiltrating Fort Talos (around levels 60ish to 75) is the worst part of the game, hands down. Its insanely difficult to find enough to do in Sailor’s Lodge to get to level 75 and since Sailor’s Lodge is in the middle of fucking no-where-ville, you have to navigate your ship (which, idk if im just fucking stupid, but navigation sucks, especially without the player markers like in WoM) to the nearest island with actually good quests on it (which is across the entire map). OR, you have to become an NPC and sell cargo, which, to be clear, should be totally optional, not basically required, but the worst part is that those are ALSO across the map. (at least, if you want any good amount of XP). The worst part about this is that (in my opinion) Fort Talos is EASILY the best part of the story so far, and having to slog through almost all of the worst problems in current AO to get to it is stupid. I know theres the “Prove Yourself” quest, and that quest does give quite a lot of XP, but its also a stupidly big hassle, though arguably less than your other options, I guess. Sorry for the novel, just had to get some frustrations off my chest.

TLDR: Sailor’s Lodge can kiss my ass

P.S.: there was a little bit of strong language, sorry

probably not a hot take but sharks/ shark based sea monstesr suck sometimes and are just push overs sometimes. I like some of their behaviours where they’ll chase a boat and when u shoot megalodon/white eyes, it wont chase your boat anymore, great. But there are cases where the sharks have the most shit awareness in the world. Some of them do not move when i attack them. Some of them will not attack me even though im infront of them. And lastly, if you read a post by me ranting how hard it is to find poison jaws, then yknow what im gonna say. It sucks BALLS trying to find this shark. Yes, theres agora news but whenever i go to the island where the sea monster is, theres a chance to find white eyes, mainly cause it attacks my boat, a chance to find megalodon because it attacks my boat, a very tiny chance to find poison jaws even though its more common than white eyes and an EVEN GREATER CHANCE OF FINDING FUCKING NOTHING. Agora news is sometimes lying to my face and also maybe id have a better chance of finding sharks/poison jaws and what not if they had a greater detection range or werent as blind as a fucking bat.
