from what i understand the level cap is for making players go explore and such. i did that and the “grind” really wasn’t bad, and honestly just fun. but yeah, i feel like the level cap is really unneeded
Without it people would be trying to fight elius at level 35 and then mald that he’s undefeatable (they already do this at level 50 even though the recommended level to fight him is 60+)
There’re quests on other islands you can do to level up, it’s very possible to get to 40 without repeating a single quest
then that is their own fault, the game provides them with many ways to level up yet they choose to do it underleveled and then complain that its “too hard”
good game design shouldn’t be sacrificed to cater towards impatient people
yeah i agree with this but its more about the freedom of choice
I’ve done that on my magma warlock file, Ivory Edwards take #4. Exploration tasks are a lot of fun to focus down.
As someone who has never seen level requirements except for the frostmill one for 5 minutes until it disappeared, I disagree, they are needed and if they appear for you or anyone else then taking a break from the story for a bit is a good idea
Meh, it’s very easy to level up with exploration quests and such, so it’s not really a problem
naval combat is fun until you eventually sink the ship and then have to go and kill the pirates. now it’s a stat-check, 20fps nightmare of hoping you can kill them fast enough because you don’t have any room to dodge any attacks whatsoever
hot take
EXACTLY OPPOSITE
Shit is more clunky then trying to be a WoM weapon only user
saying naval combat is mid? absolutely correct unless you have a ram and hull
the level recommendation would do the exact same thing except give you more options
“We recommend that you get to level 93 to continue”
gives the player more freedom on what they want to do and how they want to play the game
if you create a new save file when you already played the game, its a chore to get to max and awaken.
“exploration tasks” what the hell is there to explore when i already maxed a previous save file?
if newer players want to break off from the story let them do it when they want to not when they have to.
the level recommendation system would do the exact same thing as the level requirement system except punish the inexperienced who rush through the game
but no, instead of that the game is forcing me to grind when i have already put a bunch of hours on it
“its easy to level up” yes but the level requirement system makes it feel like a god damn chore.
if the game wants me to prepare for a boss let me prepare how i want to prepare for it.
“Get to level 93 to continue”
its not the fact that you have to get to level 93 its the fact that the game is forcing you to do it, if i want to rush through the game underleveled because I’ve already beaten a boss 50 times let me do it
i just want a game that lets you play it under your own skill level
Bruh you know what I mean, they take no time to do, well except the treasure charts and the secrets if you don’t know where they are, but still, better than just redoing the same quest over and over.
I mean, the players can still break off when they want to really, no need to wait for a level wall for it, again coming from someone who never had problems with the level requirements I don’t really see this issue but I guess I can understand where you’re coming from.
Yea I get it, unfortunately the level wall is kinda required, imagine the complaining about Elius but way worse since people weren’t forced to level up. If vetex found out a way to implement skips for the requirement for the files after your finished one, that could work, but until then the level walls are a “necessessary evil”, i understand wanting to go at your pace after already experiencing the game, but at this moment vetex can’t really do much about it, especially since he needs to think about all the other stuff that has to be added to the game.
The bosses are highly overrated. Sure, Elius teaches the player to parry and not attempt to brute force through everything, but after that, its all meh.
Shura - The only boss I’d give a perfect score to. Hes not difficult at all, but anyone new to the series struggling on him can just whip out the gun they recently got and go to town.
Iris - Meh, shes okay. The only major flaw is just the global boss issue of small, destructible arenas. Seriously, the only boss with a large arena (Argos) is the one with arena-wide attacks… wtf.
Argos - Very small moveset, to the point where his third phase only has 2 moves iirc… as a boss.
Carina - Very annoying, unnecessarily hard for zerkers, phase 2 barely changes anything, has 0 story significance
Calvus - Easily the most overrated boss in AO. Dashes around 24/7, massive hitboxes with ungodly damage. Hell, 80% of the time I fight him he just dashes under the stairs, gets stuck, and then one shots me while hes so far into the ground that none of my AOE’s can hit him. Theres just so much wrong with this boss.
The bosses all lack some kind of gimmick or unique aspect, theyre all just “Human sized enemy that uses weapon/magic/strength attacks and dashes around their arena really fast”. It just feels kinda lazy. People for some reason try to compare this to soulsborne game bosses… no. In fromsoft games, when you die 90% of the time you feel like and know its your fault. You learn from your mistakes and usually use skill to finally beat whatever boss you’re stuck on. In AO, you just overlevel or get a friend to help you, because god save those poor souls who tried to do Calvus at the minimum required level.
Nothing about the bosses are fun, I only do them for the drops.
this games PVP is bad
i will NOT take it back
I forgot Elius.
Elius - A decent skill barrier until you realize just how hes kinda shit. He LOVES spamming noble thunderspear, which is a good move to teach people to parry… until he dashes into your face and throws 3 that you cant react to. The scythe combo is okay. The slashes are just damage trading, and the storm of arrows… sigh. Storm of arrows is essentially rolling a nat 20 in dnd. When he does it, you instantly destroy a massive chunk of his hp, and early game thermo zerkers can actually 100-0 him on some occasions before he even transfers phases. The issue is that this one godsend only happens if rnjesus says it does. Lets not even bring up the healing, the particles making things unseeable, destructible boss arena, you know the drill.
The G button on the keyboard
Everything else i agree
tf are u saying
i just said that if his ai decides to roll storm of arrows you get free damage lmao…
There, changed it so you are in the wrong
things like lost spells should be catalogued with all the other spells you can equip in the menu as to avoid having to delete pulsar just because you needed a second ultimate art for a moment
I was pointing out that if he tp dashes right above you and instantly spears you cant rly parry that. Its only parryable if hes decently far away
Shame the boss arena is the size of a cardboard box.
yeah pvp is a stat check before skill. whoever has the better gear is gonna win and only if both people have really good gear does it come down to skill
