Im gonna do some calculations judging how advanced AO currently is using their current inventions and rate of change
Since AO is like 100 years behind in rate change comparison to our world
2124 would be around 2024 in our time
What would it be like? What would the government do?
Criminals yeah including metal conjurer gun users
Fire arcanium stove, plasma microwave and wind ventilation
magic wars
lightning users either having better speed on their devices or worse speed depending on how they can control their magic energy
Not sure why these would exist. I mean, I understand that seafaring was a large part of the culture for many years, however, outside of conflict there isn’t much reason to make these. Particuarly on planes, since it would probably mess up the aerodynamics (don’t quote me on this I have no clue on how aerodynamics work).
Probably still be absolute monarchies, at least in the War Seas. I don’t know if the PK’s Curse Crusade reaches the War Seas, so there may still be many rulers that are immortal. As for the Seven Seas, I’d imagine they’d go in a more democratic way with the after the PK’s crusade at least after awhile. For laws and such, I’d imagine there’d be heavy regulation on how magic is used. Being only for self-protection, work, or military and the like.
Probably less prevalent as time goes on and technology advances. Sure magic is great for large scale conflicts when you don’t care about the land you’re fighting on, but in modern times I’d imagine that mages would be relegated to special infantry rather than the main force of soldiers.
Fulguricity my beloved. (My word for electricity in the AU, since it would most likely come from lightning arcanium) The way I see it, it either harness magic energy straight from the air or lightning mages come in every so often to recharge the grid. Seeing as magic has more destructive power than tnt, it’s totally possible for even a little of it to fuel a city.
Madness should hopefully decrease, and I don’t think that the number of viciously murderous criminals in game is accurate to lore. Seeing as there’s currently only one named serial killer. Also for people like muggers, they’d probably just use the threat of magic a lot more than they’d actually use it. Since punishments for magic crimes are probably more severe than without given the extra risk magic entails.
I’d actually think this would be light users, since wifi and radio and what not works on the electromagnetic spectrum. While lightning gives off photons, it’s not strictly in control of said radiation.
See criminal section.
This is honestly a really interesting framing device, and I would love to see a more aesthetically modern entry into the AU. I think it would be interesting to see how politics, technology, and society would evolve given magic’s existence. So yeah.
BTW, not gonna respond till morning, cause I gotta go sleep.
With all the magic stuff, one would think they would have figured out how to create artificial constructs like golems and such, since there is like, so many applications for magic already in use.
Energy! I’m-not-so-sure-if-this-is-eco-friendly aviation fuel or simply fuel in general with magic energy! Power plants with magic energy! Magic energy enhanced super weapons!
I have like an idea what there goal would be in the future, AO MC goal is to clean the DS, basically making the world habitable once again, using numerous Mages they are able to clear the air, also with the invention of airplanes this isn’t too far lol, but this could infact make seafaring to other seas safer and non safer depending if Unholy Beast Atlanteans get soo tall and large.
I think conjurers WOULD be the strongest type of “class” out there. I mean, an arcanium auto rifle? That would be so powerful, man. Also there would definitely be new magics, such as paper…idk what else tbh
