to be fair she probably already knew it was a stretch to be asking skyhall for help and thought it was a 99% chance it wouldnt work (she was right), so sending a general or another important figure would be a waste of time
For the last part, I am pretty sure that Vetex said Wotan/Keraxe aren’t a part of the Order, I can’t recall where though but that’s why I am saying that Wotan is legitimately starting a war for Sameria’s islands
Also Wotan is stated to be the strongest in the War Seas iirc, so even if the Order is very strong, I don’t think they can dispatch that power to Sameria without it seeming very suspicious, like where did all these powerful people come from? Why are they helping Sameria? The kinda public press the Order would not want if working in the shadows is their thing
In Skyhall any outsider entering is a big deal, since there’s no formal entryway or real reason to go there, so if anyone comes from the sea saying “IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR THE KING!” people are gonna hear them out.
I think Ravenna will catch up to us in short order, if not in the very next chapter, and turn everything upside-down for us, but it is weird that Sameria saw a curse user, a lost magic user, and a legacy, together in a group, and they just said “you’re our military now”
This world is medieval, all things considered it’s not half bad. Skyhall never gets contact so they weren’t prepared, and Sameria hooked us up with the fanciest hotel in their nation.
i think strength is way more valuable than diplomacity n the ao universe so i guess when nilah saw a curse user and two other strong mages willing to help her defend sameria she probably didn’t think twice
Thats the thing. The breaking of the sky incident is literally some sea people decided that they should attack Skyhall.
Sending random guy immediately to the king without screening after the incident is like america just chilling as random afghanistan guy meeting presidents.
Like I said, the sole reason we even meet emerson is the king being busy. Otherwise we are likely to meet him immediately.
The thing is im pretty sure the whole ravenna is stronger than 3 random people.
Edit: my bad. I dont mean whole but like, if you know your ally is looking for criminal, and have said criminal as leverage, pretty sure your ally gonna come and help you.
ehh the thing is: ravenna, by the time we got to sameria, was still recovering and had no ruler so they probably couldn’t just send ships to warn sameria about us
i think it’ll be relevant to the plot later but for now, sameria doesn’t know we’ve murdered calvus
Thats why I talk about Sameria having their own Envoy/embassador etc. Nilah know about Calvus demise. Im pretty sure Revon gonna make the story of our crime an international news.
Sameria not knowing about affair in Ravenna is like France don’t know about the death of Queen Elizabeth. I really hope Nilah actually know about our crime and let it slide because that would mean my assumption is wrong and the story will be good.
No, she has many others, but she actually needs them more elsewhere, for example, holding the frontline or raiding the outpost at Pefkos
Just passing in an anonymous note is enough
Still I refuse to believe Juraserva involve in this kind of stuff. This kind of organization usually won’t do anything unless its threat, and we aren’t threat to sameria
Isn’t one of their priorities is to protect the innocent? We qualify for that, so they acted to protect us from an arrest.
We weren’t a threat to Sameria, but Sameria was a threat to us.
Hence why I said it dont make sense for them to warn Nilah
But if they hadn’t done it and the truth about our deeds in Ravenna inevitably broke free, Nilah would have done the wrong thing and caught us, so they made a move to prevent that scenario
I mean they literally let Calvus run free. Hale said himself that the only reason they dont just kill Calvus is they cannot do it without attracting attention. Pretty sure they will apply the same thing here
Kill Calvus - yes, but now all they have to do is to tell that a person is innocent - a much easier task
TBF, you can’t actually figure out somebody is a legacy just by looks. Like as far as we know right now— you just have to know that certain magics are limite to those who are legacies (rare information we only obtained from a dead god lol)… or might be able to do it with enough background knowledge and some insane Sensing, which might still need the sensor to be able to pick up Spirit Energy.
Then you see a band of:
- some guy who can wield every tool really well and seems chill enough to help people for no good reason.
- John Death Curse™
- person with a magic that would usually require tons of training to get up to utilize.
I mean, if we were willing to work, then thats like… the best team you could really get in AO. “Super Soldier, A Black Hole Nuke, and a Northrop Grumman B–21 Raider just agreed to be a part of our Army right when we were low on supplies!”
And this society is filled with wizards. We just came from seeing this blue flame guy crash on us and think we’re chill enough to be lent advice, can’t be that rare of an occurrence for suspiciously helpful strong people to just waltz into existence.
“My majesty, I know we look suspicious as hell but you gotta trust us. We definitely not a bunch of criminal fleeing from another country”
“Pinky Promise?”
“Pinky Promise.”
“Deal”
“Y’know Majesty, Skyhall only had problems when a curse user went up there! just send the weakest guy of their team up there, that’ll be secure!”
“Man, sure does beat waiting for our suspiciously inactive allies! Can’t believe some stranded ship fellows found these guys!”
I think Sameria is just a very gullible nation, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for storytelling, but if it’s just how they’re portrayed because they were dumb enough to take in a bunch of dangerous strangers as part of their militia and diplomacy.
Talk about short-staffed.
