i do agree that some magics are more boring than others, they’re locked into the game now. the best we can do is make them unique. Glass giving gouged would make it unique, sand is already pretty unique being the only other magic to blind while having great damage, and snow… needs something. (forgot about ice. uh, more synergies perhaps?)
also, by your logic, something like earth should be removed due to it not having a unique status effect nor unique stats.
honestly though I personally think the piles that sand and snow make should be more important, like maybe you can use particularly large attacks to fill in gaps made by terrain destruction to be able to walk over them easily
would be an interesting counter to destruction-heavy builds
oh, thats a cool idea! i like it. dunno how it would be implemented though. like, code-wise.
well it has the little fade-in thing when terrain respawns, so just have a sand/snow attack fill in the full gap if the attack is (x) amount larger than the gap in terrain
I agree that Bleed needs a DoT of it’s own, but imo it needs much more than just making it a ‘better tool to apply bleed’.
It’s already JUST a tool to apply bleed. no one uses glass as a primary magic. Why? Because it’s clearly weaker and a worse choice than the other magics. IMO it needs to be put a bit more in line with the level of power the other magics have. At least enough not to make it just a clearly worse choice as a primary magic when compared to the others.
After all, according to the in-game tooltip, all magics should be roughly at the same power level.
yeah i guess that is true. uh… bleed stacking was an option. which is great! makes it more unique… for now. what happens when flare comes out? Also, what happens when something that needs bleed hits something with multiple bleed stacks? and, will glass be the only thing that can apply multiple bleed stacks?
Those are just very nit-picked downsides to this option though (except for maybe flare) and i believe either option is a good way to buff glass. I don’t know of a secret third thing that can both satisfy the need to make it less off a bleed stick while also being simplistic enough for a basic magic. if i were to choose one over the other it would be gouged, mostly because its easier to balance n all that.
That is a very valid question. Flare is also supposed to also be a DoT centered magic.
Yes but flare is a lost magic, so at some point there would be alot of updates before that
damn it, you’re right, sorry
i don’t like sand because it’s one of those things where you can’t do anything to make it actually sound appealing to use other than its viability, which, yeah, thinking about it now, it’s quite possibly just better shadow for mages specifically
my logic isn’t “this isn’t unique, it should be removed” it’s “i have the attention span of a four year old and i don’t think of sand when i think of magical elements so why is it here”, so earth stays specifically because it shows up in my head when i think “magical element” (same with water, fire, and wind, and the other elements to a lesser degree)
i don’t wanna sound like a schrodinger’s douchebag, but i was kind of joking about saying they should be removed
TL;DR:
- sorry borg i’m being a dick
- sand, snow, and glass aren’t as iconic as earth, water, fire, wind, and most other elements (i don’t know what makes something like ice iconic though, but it’s more appealing than snow to me for some reason), but i don’t ACTUALLY think they should be removed
“(when u get a second magic with crystal, its unique gimmick becomes non-existent)”
Won’t this remove the point of having crystal magic?? The only reason someone will get crystal is because there is that dog buff on the 3rd hit. Removing that gimmick will just make it another earth magic.
nah its cool
i do also totally agree with this, and if removing those less iconic magics was an option i would be totally down for it, but the magic bloat has really been here since the very start of the game so its very hard to remove them now. Also, having some out of the box magics help with making the world feel a bit more different.
here’s another hot take:
i wouldn’t mind if some magics were just straight up reskins of already existing ones, even if that’d mean that whatever looked cooler would always be used more
hot take for sure. i dont have anything much to say to the actual comment so… i think a cool alternate colour for the basic fire would be a pink-ish red and or a more golden yellow colour. those r actual fire colours and theyre very similar to the base colour so uhhh yeah
(i just really want a pink-ish red fire. it would be so cool dawg)
that might fall under the same thing as blue plasma where one of the testers said they tried that and it looked like a lost magic
riot
for REAL i wanna make a kamehameha
- Vetex releases lost magics
- Hype
- Get one
- Its fucking recolored wind/plasma
“Finally, yellow snow.”
Some of these magics should’ve just been removed with ink and wind
true
